Coaching: it deserves a spot on your calendar. Here’s why ⤵️ 60% of leaders report that coaching is “extremely” to “very” effective compared to other leadership training. (Harvard Business Review) Here are a few reasons why: 🎯 Coaching isn’t cookie-cutter — it’s uniquely tailored to the individual. It puts each person in the driver’s seat, enabling them to develop the skills they need to serve and lead in their workplaces. ♻️ Coaching accelerates long-term change. How? Because it’s a repeatable, ongoing practice that helps participants retain knowledge more effectively – which is important, since 75% of learners forget what they learn from more traditional methods within 6 days. (Humu, 2022) 🤝 Coaching enables psychological safety to grow. This sets the stage for individuals to open up, challenge themselves, and, ultimately, grow. We also know that leaders who engage in coaching lift their entire organization. Here at Torch, we call this the Ripple Effect. From our research, we found: — 94% of direct reports see positive changes in their manager as a result of coaching — 9 out of 10 respondents report developing new skills as a result of their manager being coached — 61% are more likely to see mistakes or failures as opportunities for growth 🔍 Unlocking the Ripple Effect offers a more sustainable path to scale leadership development. "Sometimes, good stuff has to go. You aren’t meant to do all the good things. You're only meant to do *your* good things."
How much is enough? It’s a question that’s prompted deep reflection in the three months I’ve been working with a leadership coach. Women with a tendency to quantify accomplishments in the form of to-do lists know how much damage can be done in the name of productivity. We exhaust ourselves meeting the needs of others. Life becomes less about intentionality and more about surviving calendars. 5 things are crossed off the to-do list, only to be replaced by 10 more. While striving for the big moments, we miss the little ones. When my coach and I started working together, I brought up the concept of Pruning- cultivating a purposeful live. Doing “all the things” has never gotten me very far. And so, we spent a quarter discussing boundaries, cutting back, and making space for the right things. Sometimes, good stuff has to go. You aren’t meant to do all the good things. You're only meant to do *your* good things. Big thanks to LinkedIn for providing the opportunity for ERG leaders, like myself, to receive Executive Coaching via Torch. Coaching can be an unbelievably powerful growth tool, I know I’ll be walking into this next season better for the time I’ve invested. #Coaching #LeadershipDevelopment #WorkLifeBalance
