equipping and empowering children to reach their full potential by building resiliency and giving hope

About us

Scott Lewis, Executive Director and Lisa Wallace, Co-Director & Marketing were seeing stories on the news of children growing up in meth houses, children thrust in to kinship foster care because of the opioid epidemic. They were seeing children hurting and lost in some of life's darkest moments that adults would find it difficult to navigate. So they decided to do something about it. They launched The Brightside Project, a 501c3 non-profit organization in 2016 in an attempt to reach out to these children who were experiencing trauma. They knew that the more adverse childhood experiences that a child has, the more likely they are to engage in risky behavior and suffer long-term health effects. They are more likely to suffer from depression, heart disease and even death by suicide. In a society where mass shootings are on the rise, human trafficking is rampant and there seems to be so much hate inundating our world, children need to know they are loved and valued and that there is a brightside. When keeping in mind a child's comprehensive well-being, The Brightside Project;s mission is to equip & empower children to reach their full potential by building resiliency and giving hope. They accomplish their goals by a variety of events that are all directed at empowering children and showing them the brightside. Their current programs for 2020 include; Bright Easter, Bright Christmas, Food Give Aways for Kids, Back to School and a variety of community involvement events.
