Less than 2 days left to make a contribution to Mycelium Youth Network's Kickstarter campaign to publish a first-of-its-kind compendium, complete with 10 Dungeons and Dragons-style adventures inspired by Bay Area environmental and social justice history! I've collaborated with Mycelium Youth Network as Lead Artist Coordinator for some of the Gaming For Justice adventures. Their team of storytellers and educators are absolutely brilliant and Gaming For Justice is an incredible example of how cultural production and the integration of arts, storytelling, gaming, ancestral wisdoms, and social justice is a powerful tool for inspiring, educating, and preparing our youth for the future. Climate doomism will not get us anywhere. We need intergenerational creativity, imagination, problem solving, collaboration, and inspiration to get us through climate emergencies and unknown futures. SUPPORT THIS WORK! Learn more: tinyurl.com/fund-mycu "Since 2020, Mycelium Youth Network’s (MYN) Gaming for Justice has offered a window into the intersections between play and environmental and climate justice. In this program, youth and adults take on roles within a fictionalized universe to enact change in the face of the deforestation of Oak trees from Oakland, gentrification, ground-water pollution around Lake Merritt, and more. The compendium will create a radically hopeful narrative of resilience, activism, and collaboration, where each adventure offers a unique culturally grounded perspective on moments in our history and present that have had an environmental impact and are designed to empower youth and adults to freedom-game a world grounded in social justice." #Oakland #BayArea #SanFranciscoBayArea #ClimateResilience #ClimateChange #ClimateAction #ArtistOnLinkedIn

🎨 Unlocking Potential: Why Creativity Matters for Children ⭐ Creativity isn't just about painting or playing an instrument-- it's about fostering innovation, problem-solving, and self-expression. In a world that's constantly evolving, nurturing creativity in children is essential. It teaches them to think outside the box, embrace new ideas, and find unique solutions to challenges. At Y.O.U., creativity isn't just one of our core values; it's the cornerstone of everything we do. To shape and empower our youth, we must first cultivate their creativity. It's not just about teaching them facts and figures; it's about inspiring them to think critically, imagine boldly, and express themselves authentically. We recognize that none of our work would be possible without the support of our generous donors. Today, we invite our donors to double their impact. Again, your contributions enable us to provide even more opportunities for our youth to explore, create, and innovate. https://ow.ly/4Ab350QEGe7

With ezPartner, local organizations go through an onboarding process that lets them apply and identify their interests in working with your district. You can use that to qualify and validate whether they are a good fit, or you can automatically let them take the next step of registering and setting up both a personal ezPartner account and a partner profile. As schools create requests in ezPartner, registered partners can choose to receive notifications about those school needs or they can visit your district website to search and find requests by campus. Alternatively, you can send out newsletters highlighting seasonal trends in your school needs. You can also set up ezPartner so your district departments can help facilitate programming needs like STEM, mentoring or work-based learning. Once a partner connects with a school, the school can ‘Match’ them to that request, so both the partner and school staff can use ezPartner to track outcomes that are related to their shared efforts. Depending on the scale, multiple partners can be matched to the same request. If you would be interested in finding out how ezPartner can help your district easily and reliably keep track of your community partners, click https://lnkd.in/gMyXdi3S to learn more. #communityengagement

What if regional priorities informed student civic learning? What if more university funds were available to foster social change work, steered by local community organizations? What if we created a pathway to collaboration that honors the input and stories of St. Louis residents, while also providing valuable student leadership experiences? The St. Louis Impact Fund is a new series of student grants ranging from $500 to $10,000, designed to promote partnerships and engagement for a thriving St. Louis. Comprised of four grant categories, the St. Louis Impact Fund provides unique opportunities for students to co-create long and short-term projects with community organizations, explore neighborhoods and cultural institutions, and extend internships with local non-profit and civic organizations. Whether applying to an Engage STL Grant to better understand the workings of St. Louis or a Transform Grant to partner with a community organization to meet a critical community need, the St. Louis Impact Fund seeks to attract Washington University in St. Louis students and community partners with big dreams for the region! 📣 ATTENTION FUNDERS 📣 Reboot Representation has been a proud partner of Last Mile Education Fund as they launched in 2019 to address the graduation gap among striving, under-resourced women pursing degrees in tech fields and it was an immediate success. To date they have funded more than 6000 students. In January 2023, they expanded the fund to also invest in men of color. The demand for their unique financial support was unprecedented and the funds were exhausted in just a few months. Male students of color currently make up 50% of applications, however the bulk of their available funds are restricted to women and non-binary students. 📣 In order to scale their impact and serve the low-income men of color in tech in addition to women and non-binary student, they need immediate funding to provide grants and launch support for underrepresented male students. 👉🏾 Contact Ruthe Farmer to learn how you can act donate now! TLDR; DATA POINTS: 🔎 Less than 20% of students from the bottom-two income quartiles complete a degree within 6 years of starting. 🔎 Financial hurdles are the #1 reason students stop-out or drop-out of college (family obligations are #2- which are arguably much more disruptive if you are also struggling financially). 🔎 In 2020, 3 of 5 college students reported basic needs insecurity during school (food, housing, transportation, connectivity) 🔎 Students from lower-socioeconomic backgrounds make up an increasing share of the college talent pipeline (over 1/2 of K-12 students qualify for free or reduced lunch). 🔎 By the time a student has reached their Junior year of college in a STEM discipline, society has invested $477,500 in sunk costs to incubate that student. 🔎 Last Mile's average investment per student is just $956. 🔎 Every student who graduates earns on average $43,375 more per year than those with some college and no degree. https://lnkd.in/ehXYdSHq
