Summit Utilities Arkansas is proud to support the Arkansas Foodbank 24th Annual Cereal Drive! The goal of this campaign is to provide cereal for families across the state, especially those with children, during the summer break when schools are closed. 🥣 Our team members volunteered at community donation sites throughout the month of June. Team Summit representing Cabot, Arkansas delivered the final cereal donation, a total of 175 boxes of cereal, along with a check totaling $1000! Together, we are fighting food insecurity in Arkansas and helping our community thrive! 🌟 #CommunityGiving #SummitCares #VTO #CharitableGiving

President & CEO Southern Gas Association, Official Member at Forbes Business Council

Southern Gas Association recognizes individuals who demonstrate bravery and selflessness in emergency situations. Today at the Safety Conference, Cindy Anderson, VP of Operations, had the opportunity to recognize two nominees for the Meritorious Action Recognition: Angus King, Summit Utilities, Inc., and Jason Haynes Chesapeake Utilities Corporation. The ceremony highlighted the importance of individual responsibility in ensuring public safety. The story of these two heroes can inspire all of us. During a team meal at a local restaurant, Angus responded swiftly to staff’s urgent cries about an elderly gentleman choking. Without hesitation, Angus performed the Heimlich maneuver, dislodging the obstruction and saving the man's life. His calm and decisive action before others could react showcased his readiness to assist and protect. After ensuring emergency services were en route, Angus humbly returned to his meal, embodying the spirit of a true hero who acts without seeking recognition. Angus’s actions remind us that safety extends beyond our work, highlighting the importance of vigilance and individual responsibility in all aspects of life. His intervention not only averted a tragedy but also emphasized the critical role we each play in ensuring public safety. Jason Haynes witnessed a person passing out, dropping to the ground, and striking their head on the pavement at a gas station. He immediately went to their aid and discovered that the individual was suffering from a severe head injury and labored breathing. He called out to a gas station attendant, asking them to call 9-1-1. While waiting for an ambulance to arrive, Jason stayed with the unconscious stranger. Immediately, he noticed that the man wasn’t breathing, and he checked for a pulse. Detecting none, he put his Company-provided CPR training to work and began chest compressions, continuing CPR until he was sure the person had regained a pulse. Performing CPR on the stranger was Jason's first inclination, but not an easy one, as his only other experience in administering CPR involved his own mother, who did not survive. Haynes pushed past the difficult memory to assist the fallen man. Thank you to RCP Inc. and Gerald V. Sims for your sponsorship of the ceremony and recognitoin of these heroes! According to the American Heart Association, CPR can double or triple the chance of survival from an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest if performed immediately. #safety #natgas #meritorious #CPR #NaturalGasIndustry

Friday May 17th was Volunteer Day for our hardworking Billing Department. Ten team members organized a shipping container full of donated supplies, did yard work, and spent time with the pups. 🐶 Through the generosity of the giving people in the Fort Smith office, they also gave: 70 lbs. of Dog Food 14 lbs. of dog treats 3 lbs. of canned chicken 42 cans of Vienna sausage 130 ounces of dish washing liquid. 1 bottle of laundry soap 1 bottle bleach 12 fetch balls 1 bottle of dog shampoo 3 “take me home” harnesses. 3 dog dishes And countless towels, blankets, and rugs. They also collected and gave $250 in cash for anything they need to use it on. Nobody in the group went home with a new pet, but several of those fur babies were on their minds as they went back to work. 🐾 #VolunteerDay #AlmostHomeShelter #BillingDepartmentGivingBack #VTO

Dave Weeden, our Measurement Program Manager, is retiring! He started with Summit in 2014, doing instrumentation, SCADA, and measurement, transitioning solely to measurement in 2018. Reflecting on his time with Summit, Dave said, “I will miss the camaraderie of all the folks around here, people in the office, and teammates. We work well as a team.” He added that he will also miss the daily challenges of putting the pieces together to make sense of the meter data. Happy retirement, Dave! You'll be missed!
