"Being involved in collective giving has made giving both more joyful and humbling... When you see the incredible energy [community leaders] devote to their work, the impact they have, and the enthusiasm they inspire, it’s hard not to fall in love." ✨ Today, we hear from Mary Kwak, a volunteer reviewer with Spur Local and member of four local giving circles -- Next Gen Giving Circle, Many Hands, Collective 365, and Cherry Blossom Giving Circle. Here, we dive into her family's story of generosity, how giving circles have shaped her approach to philanthropy, and what the collective giving movement can continue to do together. Thank you, Mary, for sharing your story with us! #OnGiving #philanthropy #collectivegiving

What does it mean to be a nonprofit for nonprofits? Simple -- we're the one-stop-shop they can go to for managing operations and growing sustainably. Why does this matter? Because supportive workplaces, more resources, and effective practices allow nonprofits to make a bigger impact for local communities AND ensure people can stay in this work long term. Nonprofit partner Resettlement Action DC (REACT DC) shares a reason to support Spur Local and nonprofits based here in the DMV. Visit spurlocal.org to learn more!

We believe in building community here in the Greater Washington region where we live. Strengthening and connecting nonprofits are critical pieces of that work. Spur Local cares about the local nonprofit sector -- that shows up in everything we do and how we do it. Our nonprofit partner BEST Kids, Inc. shares one reason why supporting Spur Local matters. At our Give Local Gala last month, Urban Ed shared about their everyday impact – using technology, education, and job training to create economic change – and about how Spur Local has helped them grow. "When we joined Spur Local (then the Catalogue for Philanthropy) in 2017, individual donations were 1% of our budget. Now, nearly 15% [of our budget] comes from individual gifts." We are a nonprofit for nonprofits, making sure they have the tools, funds, and processes to “nonprofit better.” Help us create equity of access to knowledge, community, and resources for organizations like Urban Ed and more than 490 others in our region so they can continue showing up for our neighbors with greater resources and stability.
