Southern Power is proud to join Southern Company in support of the Longleaf Landscape Stewardship Fund as well as celebrate the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation's announcement of $33.5 million in conservation grants. This funding marks a significant milestone in restoring longleaf pine forests, enhancing biodiversity and benefiting rural communities, including four in which Southern Power operates—Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Texas.

Some news we’re simply pining to share! 🌲 Today NFWF and partners announced a record-breaking $33.5 million in conservation grants from the Longleaf Landscape Stewardship Fund to safeguard some of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the world. These grants will help restore and protect longleaf pine habitats, supporting wildlife and the communities that depend on thriving forests. Thanks to the incredible support from the Bezos Earth Fund and other key partners, these grants will contribute to the America's Longleaf Restoration Initiative's goal to restore 8 million acres of this precious ecosystem, benefiting species like the gopher tortoise, red-cockaded woodpecker and eastern indigo snake. A special thank you to our partners that make wildlife conservation possible, including: USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service, USDA Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), International Paper’s Forestland Stewards Partnership, Southern Company, United States Department of Defense, The Orton Foundation (an affiliate of the Moore Charitable Foundation), Bezos Earth Fund and Energy Transfer. 📷: Longleaf pines in Croatan National Forest #longleaf #conservation #tree #wildlife #climate #forest
