Four in 10 U.S. employees say they are burnt out from their jobs, according to LinkedIn’s latest Workforce Confidence survey. This topic has long been on the #IOPsych radar. Weigh in, SIOPers. Does this information, particularly in regard to managers, surprise you? What can be done to alleviate this issue? #SIOPSmarterWorkplace #EmployeeWellBeing #Burnout
Four in 10 U.S. employees say they are burnt out from their jobs, according to LinkedIn’s latest Workforce Confidence survey. Who is most at risk of burnout? Nearly half of managers (47%) report feeling burnt out — making them more likely to be burnt out than their more senior and more junior counterparts. Those at the director-level and above are the least likely to feel burnt out (38%), followed by individual contributors (42%). It’s no surprise that burnout — the end result of workplace stress building up to unsustainable levels over time, often with detrimental consequences for individuals and their teams — is a problem for middle managers. Recent research from Gartner shows they’re typically stretched too thin due to leading teams while simultaneously fielding demands from more senior leaders and coaching direct reports. Do these findings reflect what you’ve seen in the workplace? What steps do you take to reduce your risk of burnout? Weigh in below. ✍️: Rachel Cromidas 📊: Allie Lewis, Bud Rashidian
