Fighting hunger in 23 parishes of South Louisiana
About us
Second Harvest Food Bank is leading the fight against hunger in South Louisiana by providing food access, advocacy, education, and disaster response. Second Harvest provides food and support to 700+ community partners and programs across 23 parishes. Through our food distribution programs, community kitchen meal service, nutrition education, and public benefits assistance, we are helping to create pathways out of poverty. Every year, Second Harvest secures millions of pounds of food that otherwise would have gone to waste. Our work helps ensure that these meals make it to the dinner tables of thousands of families struggling with hunger in South Louisiana.

Ketty, her husband, and two dogs moved to town two years ago, seeking a fresh start. Just six months later, tragedy struck. Someone was speeding on the highway, hit her husband, and broke his pelvis. The car accident left him permanently disabled. If it wasn’t for Second Harvest Food Bank, Ketty says they would struggle. “We would have a very hard time. Food stamps aren’t reliable because they’ve gone down and food prices have gone up.” To learn more about how you can join our mission to end hunger, go to no-hunger.org Like, comment and share to help spread the word!
