In good company! Amazing work by our colleagues in South Africa. Well deserved recognition!
We are incredibly proud to share that AMANDLA has been awarded 'Recreation Body of the Year' at the 2024 South African Sport Awards, a celebration of 30 years of freedom through sporting excellence. This accolade is not just a win for our team but a celebration of the collective efforts that have driven our mission forward for the past 17 years. Our Safe-Hubs across South Africa are more than just safe spaces; they are springboards for young people to access sports, arts, culture, and holistic education, fostering long-term social change and driving inclusive economic development. We extend a heartfelt thank you to the South African Sport Awards and the Sport for Social Change Network for this incredible honor. Your recognition fuels our passion and reaffirms our commitment to transforming lives and communities. Congratulations to all the nominees and winners of this year's awards. Your dedication inspires us, and together, we continue to shape a more inclusive, empowered future for all. Thank you to everyone involved in making this journey a success. #AMANDLA #SafeHub #SASA17Edition #IzinjaZegame #SASportAwards #SportforSocialChangeNetwork #WeWon

We're proud to support Safe-Hub Philadelphia, which has officially launched its winter ‘Footskills FC’ program for 8th-12th graders in North Philadelphia: The 21 young people involved in the winter soccer and leadership skills-building program will have the opportunity to become Safe-Hub’s expanded group of PlayMakers in the spring, participating in off-field workshops, career exposure, and future readiness activities. The cohort is a great group of young leaders, 62% of whom identify as female/nonbinary.

At the end of December KBGCNA partner Safe-Hub Philadelphia hosted its third annual End-of-Year Winter Resource Fair! Volunteers distributed over 16,000 items to support neighbors during the season. More than 700 people came together to ice skate with Santa Claus and share a meal. Families received resources including toys, sports gear, books, winter coats and accessories, warm pajamas, hygiene products, shoes, pet food, utility and education resources, and more. It was a wonderful day of community, and we are incredibly fortunate to be able to work with such amazing people who make it happen.
