As National Safety Month comes to a close, let's not forget these important safety tips and tricks to ensure we all stay safe on the road during the 100 Deadliest Days of Summer: 🚗 Prepare Before You Go: Ensure your vehicle is road-ready by checking the oil, inflating the tires, and addressing any open recalls. Safety first! 🔒 Buckle Up: Seat belts save lives. Always buckle up and make sure car seats are correctly installed for younger passengers. 🚗 Plan for Safe Travel: Arrange a sober driver or alternative transportation. Remember, impairment isn't just from alcohol—drugs, including opioids, cannabis, and some over-the-counter meds, can impair driving ability. 🐢 Slow Down: Speeding contributes to over a quarter of traffic fatalities. Stick to the speed limit, and slow down when conditions call for it. 📵 Drive Distraction-Free: Thousands of lives are lost due to cell phone use while driving. Put your phone away and #JustDrive. 👶 Look Before You Lock: Pediatric vehicular heatstroke is a leading cause of non-crash vehicle-related fatalities for children. Always check the back seat for children or pets, especially when arriving at work, where about 25% of these deaths occur. Stay safe and responsible on the road! Thank you National Safety Council ❗

We had an incredible time collaborating with the North Carolina Governor's Highway Safety Program, Mazda, Equitable (Equitable), and AAA (AAA). Together, we focused on empowering the next generation of leaders in traffic safety. As a student-facing and student-led organization, we understand young people's vital role in shaping a safer future. Their perspectives, innovation, and passion are key to driving impactful change. By involving students directly in our initiatives, we ensure their voices are heard and their ideas are at the forefront of our efforts. Held during the 100 Deadliest Days of Summer, this conference couldn't be more timely. It allowed us to address critical issues and promote strategies that keep our roads safer during this high-risk period.
