Fact: Hands-free devices offer no additional safety benefits because they do not eliminate mental distractions. 2️⃣ True: Passenger conversations are less distracting than cell phone use. 3️⃣ Myth: Other drivers may struggle to stay focused on the road while using a cell phone, but I don’t. Fact: According to a study by the University of Utah, 98% of the public cannot perform two mentally demanding tasks simultaneously without incurring substantial performance costs. You may also react slower to other drivers' behaviors when distracted. 4️⃣ True: Scrolling on social media is just as distracting as texting and driving. 🚗 Promote Teen Driver Safety with Ford Driving Skills for Life! 🚗 Ford Motor Company Philanthropy and the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA), along with the Ohio Department of Public Safety, are hosting FREE hands-on teen driver training clinics at the I-X Center in Cleveland on August 3-4, 2024. This program covers crucial skills like vehicle handling, hazard recognition, speed and space management, and distracted/impaired driving. Sessions are available from 7:30 a.m. to noon or 1-5:30 p.m. on both days. Teens and parents can register online, and group reservations are available.
