Sustainability continues to be an important pillar of tourism, with travelers and resorts doing all they can to be environmentally and socially mindful. Gangtey Lodge takes great pride in respecting and preserving their small corner of Bhutan’s remote countryside. Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia, spotlights their efforts in practicing sustainable hospitality, in their “TL Conscious List: 10 Sustainable Hotels Around The World.” Shibani Bawa and Nivedita Pawar emphasize Gangtey Lodge as an excellent choice for those looking to minimize their carbon footprint while traveling while not sacrificing luxury. The area of Bhutan has only been open to tourism since 1974 and they truly prioritize that the landscape and culture remain unspoiled. “Every year the resort plants over 100 trees and takes part in monthly anti-litter activities in the valley. Recyclable materials from the hotel are saved and donated to the community to be reused by the local school and monastery.” With practices such as these, the resort shows it’s guests the importance of living sustainably and how their stay helps the environment rather than harm it. #reyacommunications #reyapr #travelpr #gangteylodge #gangtey #bhutan #regenerativetravel #sustainabletravel #ecotourism #slh Continue Reading: https://lnkd.in/gBv6Tecw

Casey Hatfield-Chiotti is aware of the growing admiration and chasing of celestial events. The increased interest in the night sky is a focal point in her Marin Living Magazine, “How to Plan an Astrotourism Vacation This Year.” Casey highlights the Alyeska Resort as an ideal place to stay when seeking out the renowned spectacle of the aurora. “40 minutes from Anchorage in Girdwood, guests don’t have to fret about missing the dramatic show; the Aurora Concierge will call guests when the northern lights are dancing in the night sky.” Offering their relaxing hydrotherapy sessions at twilight, guests have the chance to indulge in adventure and reward themselves under starry nights. Hatfield also notes an alternative for guests seeking a truly remote, one-of-a-kind experience. The Sheldon Chalet “(from $32,000 per night for up to four guests, with a three-night minimum) in Denali National Park, accessible only by helicopter, offers world-class stargazing and the most surreal aurora borealis viewing experience.” With virtually zero light pollution, the Chalet guests are front row to the most vivid shooting stars and the clearest views of the blue, purple, and green hues of the aurora borealis reflecting off glaciers and mountain peaks. "For millennia, earth’s forests and coastlines have kept us fed—and increasingly, travelers can learn to sustainably harvest from the land. The experience? Expert-led foraging trips. The practice dates to the earliest humans who had a fluency in the land and its plentiful ingredients,” writes Stephanie Vermillion in the May 2024 issue of Business Traveler. How are resorts incorporating foraging experiences into their offerings? “These days, resorts and guides are teaching travelers about both the art of foraging and the health and sustainability benefits of hyperlocally sourced cuisine” Vermillion shares. Kirsten Dixon, the owner of Within the Wild's Tutka Bay Lodge, explained to Vermillion how the Lodge’s foraging experience is unique. “When we’re foraging, you’re looking down a lot, so we have little stops to look up at the canopy, or just have a silent moment,” she said. But that’s not all… “In addition to scouring the woodlands for ingredients such as wild berries and spruce tips, Tutka Bay Lodge guides also lead guests on strolls along the low-tide shoreline to collect items such as seaweed and beach lettuce. After foraging, the chef hosts a cooking class.” The cooking class allows participants to see the fruits of their labor from start to finish and gives them the opportunity to share and explain their final product to other guests. Dixon emphasized the importance of respecting the environment you forage in and being mindful of sustainability practices. Vermillion writes, “Although the act of eating locally, especially this locally, offers planet-friendly benefits like reducing waste and minimizing food-transit miles, foraging does require sustainability protocols. ‘In our case, foraging is infinite and easy, but we do have a strict rule: Never take more than 25 percent of what you’re picking,’ says Dixon.” #tutkabaylodge #foraging #homeralaska #2024travel #reyacommunications #reyapr #travelpr

“With summer on the horizon, most of us are consulting our calendars to plan the perfect last-minute summer getaway. While many people save this time of year for big bucket list trips and popular destinations, stifling crowds can certainly put a damper on that much-anticipated vacation. Instead, look to locales that are a bit off the beaten path and won’t draw in nearly as many visitors this season” writes Amanda Mactas in an article for Time Out Market. Instead of a more crowded, popular summer vacation destination, Mactas recommends traveling to a unique small town. What makes a trip to a small town worthwhile? “Equally as charming and transportive yet a bit more unassuming, the best small towns in the USA bring the same appeal as any major city, with the added bonus of room to maneuver and not a line in sight” Mactas shares. For travelers seeking a summer getaway that combines adventure with relaxation, visit Alyeska Resort. Mactas writes, “Forget traveling to the Swiss Alps and instead explore the small mountain town of Girdwood, open year-round for adventure. Here, you can partake in your favorite winter activities like skiing, snowmobiling, and glacier exploring and enjoy the best of aprés. Just hit up the Alyeska Nordic Spa, designed to help you sink into your wellness goals with hydrotherapy, saunas, and halotherapy.” Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gZyTeEKK #alyeskaresort #girdwood #alyeskanordicspa #hydrotherapy #smalltowntravel #travel2024 #reyacommunications #reyapr #travelpr

Sonnenalp Hotel of Vail has been named to The MICHELIN Guide’s first-ever list of hotels to receive One MICHELIN Key for the exceptional experiences and services to their guests. The inaugural list, which debuted in April, classifies One MICHELIN Key as  "A very special stay." The MICHELIN Guide praises the Sonnenalp Hotel, sharing, “The idea of Bavaria in the Rockies may raise eyebrows, but it’s no gimmick — this remarkably authentic Alpine-style resort is owned by the same Faessler family that opened the original Sonnenalp hotel in Ofterschwang in the years immediately following the First World War. It’s the sort of personality that no contemporary designer could possibly fake: almost more European than its counterparts in the Alps, and it’s the perfect antidote to the commercial luxury on offer elsewhere in Vail.” From its elegant accommodations and world-class dining to its extensive amenities and breathtaking surroundings, Sonnenalp Hotel provides an unforgettable retreat for travelers seeking an exceptional experience in Vail. "We are thrilled and honored to receive One MICHELIN Key," said Johannes Faessler, Owner and General Manager of Sonnenalp Hotel. "This recognition is a testament to our team's dedication to creating memorable experiences for our guests time and time again. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of hospitality and look forward to continuing to exceed expectations." Writer Lannan O'Brien featured Sheldon Chalet in Issue 4 of Living Kitchen magazine, as a destination where travelers can experience “magic in the sky.” “Adventure seekers will feel at home at the Sheldon Chalet, where the remote wilderness of Denali National Park offers a private escape for world-class hiking, backcountry skiing, and crystal-clear views of the northern lights. At an elevation of 5,800 feet, with zero light pollution, owner Marne Sheldon says, ‘You feel as if you are on stage with them and can reach out and touch them as they surround you in the Don Sheldon Amphitheater,’” writes O’Brien. O’Brien dives in to the rich history of the Chalet, explaining, “The name is no coincidence: Don Sheldon, a pilot who invented airplane modifications and tactics for glacial landings, was in the process of mapping the Alaska Range (along with cartographer Brad Washburn) when he discovered what would be the location of the chalet in the 1960s. Once a rustic mountain house, the now luxurious accommodations were built by his children years later according to his vision.” The addition of luxury accommodations took Sheldon Chalet to the next level, creating a truly one-of-a-kind experience with “saunas and gourmet dining, plus access to helicopter sightseeing tours, adventure gear, and glacier guides.” “The only thing missing is a roadway - fittingly, the chalet is accessible only by plane” writes O’Brien. #sheldonchalet #denalinationalpark #northernlights #alaska #reyacommunications #reyapr #travelpr

Writer Gemma Harris names 12 water safaris to access exotic wildlife by boat in Robb Report. Her article mentions river cruises around the world, from Africa to Borneo, Alaska and Antarctic, and namely, the Amazon - featuring Delfin Amazon Cruises - Relais & Châteaux. Harris highlights the Delfin I cruise, sharing that “eight guests gain exclusive access to the world’s largest protected flooded forest—Peru’s Pacaya Samiria National Reserve—accessible only by boat during the rainy season.” What is particularly enticing about cruising the Peruvian Amazon? “Navigating through the watery wilderness, the basin’s showstopper is the mystical pink river dolphin found only in these waters,” writes Harris. The rare pink river dolphin is not the only wildlife commonly spotted aboard Delfin. Harris writes, “From the shaded observation deck or one of the four plush private-suite terraces, the land also reveals sloths, capybaras, and pygmy marmosets. Night-time safaris via tender reveal the jungle’s nocturnal transformation with black caimans, bats, frogs, and other nocturnal creatures lining the shores.”  Not only is a cruise with Delfin an incredible experience, but guests are also supporting several conservation and social impact efforts when they travel with Delfin. “Delfin Cruises partners with local guides to benefit Amazonian communities,” shares Harris.
