Rebel Girls Build the Future is a new storytelling collaboration with Reality Labs celebrating women technologists helping to build the metaverse. https://lnkd.in/dKRFFSVP Rebel Girls has showcased more than 400 careers across 2,000+ stories inspiring girls around the world to dream big. We believe in equipping girls with skills today to be successful  tomorrow (and change the world).  This partnership celebrates women in STEAM who are breaking barriers, leading change, and advancing careers related to the metaverse including art, engineering, and design so that we can close the STEAM gender gap. ⚡ Girls begin to lose interest (and confidence in their abilities) in STEM disciplines around middle school. (Source: Girl Scouts of the USA Generation STEM Report)  ⚡ Parents are 2x more likely to encourage boys to engage in coding than girls (the LEGO Group Ready for Girls Creativity Study) ⚡ Only 23% of engineering bachelor’s degrees are awarded to women (Source: National Science Foundation (NSF)) ⚡ Only 22% of computer and information science bachelor’s degrees are awarded to women. (Source: WomenTech Network) ⚡ Women hold less than 10% of leadership positions at orgs driving metaverse standards (Source: McKinsey & Company, Mina Alaghband and Lareina Yee) It’s important for girls from all backgrounds and means to see themselves as potential leaders and creators of the future. Reality Labs and Rebel Girls are partnering with First Book, a nonprofit organization that works to remove barriers to education and provide equitable opportunities for under-represented children, to distribute 5,000 copies of Rebel Girls Build the Future to underserved communities and Title I schools. Rebel Girls has donated tens of thousands of books to First Book over the years, and are proud to continue reaching so many additional kids through this partnership.  We want to thank Rachel M. Cross, Head of Art at Reality Labs, for her thoughtfulness and intention in this collaboration. As a mom raising two Rebel Girls, she has been reading Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls and giving Growing Up Powerful to her daughters for many years.  You can read more about our partnership and Rachel’s passion for this project: https://lnkd.in/dtakzZZK Together, let’s encourage girls to discover their passion and interest in STEAM today and empower their confidence to be the leaders needed to help build the metaverse of tomorrow.

We are proud to share that Rebel Girls and Nike have partnered on audio + video content for girls centered on Nike's Body Confident Sport initiative. https://lnkd.in/gEk5n6SM As part of our Growing Up Powerful series, this new content - developed with Professor Phillippa Diedrichs - will help build body confidence for girls. ⚡ Did You Know? Low body confidence is the number 1 reason why girls stop playing sport; while girls who play sport are 4x more likely to have high body confidence vs peers who do not. Commenting for Rebel Girls, CEO Jes Wolfe: “Rebel Girls believes the power – and joy – of sport helps girls build their confidence and offers critical tools to thrive in life. We are proud to continue to partner with Nike on this important message, and to now be part of bringing their Body Confident Sport Initiative directly to girls around the world.” On behalf of Nike, Stephanie Ankrah, Kids Global Brand Management VP: “Sport can be a powerful force in a girl’s life. When puberty hits, however, and girls experience unique and significant changes to their bodies they can feel self-conscious about their appearance and exposed and vulnerable to judgement and comparison. This can be amplified in sports environments, both on and off the field. The irony is this is when they need sport the most and it can help them navigate this transitional moment in their lives. Having grown up playing sport, I have benefitted from the physical, emotional and mental power it gives you. We want all girls to feel and experience the power of playing sport to build a lifetime of confidence. The impact we can have is a passion and purpose for myself and the whole team.” ⚡ To watch more videos from the series, head to Rebel Girls YouTube channel: https://lnkd.in/gSZ33xdN ⚡ Audio is available on the new Growing Up Powerful podcast channel wherever you listen to your podcasts (Apple, Spotify, Amazon, and more) ⚡ Learn more about Nike x Dove’s Body Confident Sport Initiative at https://lnkd.in/ewJ3WRNY ⚡ Nike and Dove’s open-source Body Confident Sport tool is available, free of charge, at bodyconfidentsport.com Thank you to all of Nike's team (Stephanie Ankrah Jasmine Rose Alvstad Martina Zavagno Nadia Shadi to name only a few) for the collaboration. Stay Rebel ⚡ #girls #bodyconfidence #sports

“I don’t want to get shot at school, and that’s something I worry about all the time … School should be my safe space.” That’s what a 9 year old girl from Pennsylvania told us when asked what issues matter to her most. https://lnkd.in/gthtcDaj Are You Listening? Is the headline of our first-ever issues focused survey with 600+ girls ages 7-12 across 47 states participating. As a platform for Generation Alpha girls, Rebel Girls is listening. If we want to help raise the most confident generation of girls, we need to advocate for policies that help foster an environment for girls to grow up safe, strong, and able to become their most awesome selves. As we are in an election cycle here in the US, we thought this was a fine time to check in with this generation, and to amplify girls' voices around voting, issues and what they expect from the next President of the United States. Our findings were both expected (Gen A girls are passionate and civically minded with 88% saying they plan to vote when they turn 18) and also clear (school safety was overwhelmingly the #1 issue, followed by gun control).  Out of the mouths of babes … Their words for the next President were humbling, pure, and simple: “I want you to know I am praying for you”, “Why can’t we all get along? Kindness matters.”, “Good luck and do your best!”.  Our infographic - released publicly this morning - details more of our survey findings and responses. We encourage you to share it with your friends, community, and other girl advocates. In the coming days, weeks, and months, we’ll continue to share data from our Gen Alpha Election 2024 survey. We’re proud to have completed this survey alongside Her Campus Media, who simultaneously reached 300+ Gen Z women. As they learned what matters most to these first time voters, gun control is the issue that crosses the top of the agenda for both generations. https://lnkd.in/gneSw3Bx.  We’ll be sharing more information on the connection between Gen A and Gen Z over the coming days. Thank you to McCrindle - a leader in generational research and insights - for designing the infographic from our data and findings. Together, we can create a better tomorrow for this next generation of leaders, builders, and creators to thrive. #GenerationAlpha #GenAlpha #Girls #SchoolSafety #GunViolence #guncontrol #election2024
