1/2 baked nonprofit idea (inspired by Alex Lieberman): We should help homeless people use begging signs that actually convert. --- I remember watching a video like this one. The skinny of it is: 1. Blind man fails to get people to give him money. "I'm blind. Please help." 2. Young girl takes sign and re-writes the copy. "It's a beautiful day, and I can't see it." 3. Blind man starts getting more donations! This example clearly plays on the situation of being homeless and blind, but I imagine every homeless person has a story, and from that, an opportunity for some heartfelt copy. --- I just drove past a number of homeless people with signs on my way home. All of the signs read exactly as you've probably all seen: - Hungry - Need Work - Veteran - God Bless You And that's all fine and well, but can it convert better?!? Copywriter agencies, collectives... this would be a really cool way to practice your creative and help those in need. I imagine the logistics around partnering with shelters and distributing signs might be in order - some people's signs honestly just need help with readability let along messaging, but in any case, A/B testing, right? More importantly, I imagine the reality that matters is that if homeless people will get more donations when they go out panhandling, then they'll be able to buy themselves just a little bit more resources. --- Maybe they can buy themselves more and better food. Maybe they can buy themselves an opportunity to shower and dress. Maybe they'll be able save more and get that much closer to escape velocity from the streets. I would love to see these stats as as a supporter of this nonprofit. I'd like to keep in touch with those stories. I'd love to see the copy of those signs evolve and develop. This could make great content that encourages more people to donate to well-written begging signs. --- Homelessness, from one perspective, is a really tragic sales job. People have to buy your poverty, and in order to do that, you have to somehow make it "worth their while". I'm certainly not a fan that homelessness exists, and I do not think that our society should solve this particular crisis like this. --- That said, I'm open to any clever organization names, and any further thoughts on things to consider surrounding the ops for this kind of nonprofit business. And with that, thank you for reading. Be well. Be aware.

Everyone has greatness inside of them. Sometimes it's another person that helps someone realize their potential and other times it is circumstances that disrupt a disappointing life, initiating the difficult road of change. Wherever it starts, each person needs to decide to adopt a new way of thinking and acting and begin associating with new people in better places. Each person needs to stay in the fight and persist through the obstacles they must face to reinvent themselves and make the contribution they are on this planet to make. Then, once we are on the other side of the difficulty we need to find others we can help make similar life-changing transitions.

I will be clean 11 years on 12/6/23 (clean day 12/6/12). It has been nearly 3 years since this collage went viral all over the world. I am amazed that it is still gaining traction. The photo on the left has been scrutinized for many different reasons. When I look at these two together, I see what is possible for every single person on earth. If you want something different, you gotta do something different. Different for me started in a pair of handcuffs, evolved to a homeless shelter, and has transformed in many ways over the last 11 years. I see myself in the mirror today and am not repulsed. It is no longer anyone else's fault. I am free today. Thank you to everyone that keeps sharing my posts and photos. You will find a link to one of the results of my hard work in the comment section. #wedorecoverV Ginny Burton

Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day. It is a day when random acts of kindness are celebrated and encouraged. "It's just a day to celebrate kindness and the whole pay it forward mentality", said Tracy Van Kalsbeek, executive director of the Stratford Perth Community Foundation. For instance, people are encouraged to do something kind for a stranger, such as giving someone a smile, offering to help someone in need, or even buying a cup of coffee for a stranger. How will you show kindness today? #CoffeeNewsAB #CoffeeNewsWeekly #AlbertaLife #AlbertaCanada #AlbertaLife #Feature #Smallbusiness #YYC #CalgaryAlberta #CalgaryBusiness #AlbertaBusiness #RandomActsofKindness #RAKDay #RandomActsofKindnessDay #BeKind

Passionate about guiding kids, teens, and families to overcome challenges, manage emotions, and build resilience
Today on 9/11, indeed, we should never forget. We should move forward with action not only remembrance. Although I remember the terror and confusion of watching the terrorist attacks, what I remember the most in my heart is driving to work in the following days seeing all the American flags flying. I remember becoming tearful at the show of patriotism and the coming together of community. We seem to have lost much of that in recent years. The pandemic, in particular, created fear of one another and isolation. I miss the greater sense of community, supporting each other, and belonging to something greater than us as individuals. We need to keep building community. I admit I had no plans to mark the anniversary of 9/11, but seeing posts inspired me to reflect on how I can remember with intention and action. - Offering kind words to others - Lending a helping hand - Truly listening to understand, not convince - Volunteering at community events - Showing up for friends - Expressing gratitude What will you do today and beyond today to remember with action? #unitedwestand #neverforget #community #intentionalliving
