📢 Just published! 📢 A new report from the Partnership’s Center for Presidential Transition highlights the challenges with the Senate confirmation process and the persistently vacant positions in the executive branch. Over 80 Senate-confirmed positions were vacant for more than 50% of the time between 2009 and 2023. Persistently vacant roles, such as the Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Cabinet department Chief Financial Officers, highlight the urgent need for reform. This report delves into these vacancies, exploring their causes and the significant impact on agency performance, public service, and Congressional oversight. The increasingly delayed Senate confirmation process has left more positions vacant for longer periods, affecting government functionality and service delivery. Join us on Friday, July 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. EDT for a panel on national security during the vulnerable period between a presidential election and the inauguration. The incumbent administration must share security information with incoming leaders, whether new or re-elected. Given the increasing political polarization and declining trust in government, mitigating these risks is essential. The Partnership’s Center for Presidential Transition® and Lockheed Martin will host a bipartisan discussion with national security experts such as Former Deputy Secretary Elaine Duke and Former Principal Deputy Director Sue Gordon. Join us to discover how federal agencies can maintain security and continuity during uncertain times and learn the importance of responsibly sharing national security information during a presidential transition. The Supreme Court’s decision today undermines the ability of expert, nonpartisan public servants to effectively address the critical issues facing our country. Eliminating the longstanding principle of "Chevron deference" erodes the foundation of our government’s effectiveness by stripping federal agencies of their power to interpret and implement ambiguous statutes. Federal agencies staffed by dedicated public servants with specialized experience and expertise and chosen on merit are a cornerstone of our democracy. The clear result of today’s decision will be a government that is less effective, less responsive, and less equipped to respond to the demands of the public. In the wake of this decision, Congress must seek ways to clarify the role of agencies in the rule-making process and ramp up its internal regulatory expertise to end the uncertainty created by this ruling. https://lnkd.in/ebyhnxQf

Accenture Federal Services and the Partnership recently hosted a Talent Acquisition Boot Camp in Washington, D.C., focusing on early career talent through sessions on internships, apprenticeships, recruitment, and data analytics. With only 7% of the federal workforce under 30, it's critical for agencies to strategically develop programs that attract, engage, and convert young professionals. If you're ready to place the right people in the right roles, it's time to adopt a more creative and comprehensive approach to recruitment and retention. https://bit.ly/3ROtvFF #TalentAcquisition #FederalWorkforce #EarlyCareer
