About us

The Public Health Foundation (PHF) is dedicated to achieving healthy communities through research, training, and technical assistance. For 50 years, this national, non-profit organization has been creating new information and helping health agencies and other community health organizations connect to and more effectively use information to manage and improve performance, understand and use data, and strengthen the workforce. PHF is incorporated in the District of Columbia as a private non-profit 501(C)(3) organization. PHF is an independent, non-membership organization, governed by an eleven-member Board of Directors composed of two state health officers, two local public health officers, one local board of health member, and six individuals from academic, private sector, and other public health agency settings.

    New PHF Pulse Blog: Community health workers are a critical part of the public health and health care workforce and play an important role in addressing health disparities. To increase access and reduce barriers to training, the New Mexico Department of Health Office of Community Health Workers (OCHW) developed competency-based training in English and Spanish that is available on the TRAIN Learning Network.     PHF is excited to share and highlight our recent collaboration with CVS Health as part of the company’s effort to increase access to heart health and mental health care services for the people it serves. PHF worked with CVS Health to provide the foundation for quality improvement skill building and refining quality improvement projects. CVS Health’s health equity strategy focuses on providing culturally responsive services, addressing social determinants of health, supporting providers, and data-informed strategies. PHF is excited to support CVS Health in incorporating health equity into their quality improvement journey.
