We had an exciting weekend in St. Paul at Family Fun Day, supported by Twin Cities Pride! There were plenty of activities for LGBTQIA+ families to enjoy together, including making friendship bracelets at the PrairieCare tent. It was a wonderful day celebrating Pride together, building community, and sharing our services with families throughout the Twin Cities. Were you unable to attend the event? No problem! We will be at the Twin Cities Pride Festival at booth #459 in Loring Park on June 29 and 30. Come get some fun mental health merchandise, learn about our services, and chat with our team. See you there! #PrideMonth #LGBTQIA #Therapy #FriendshipBracelets #BuildingCommunity

There is a long history of systemic racism and discrimination in healthcare that affects someone’s willingness to get mental health support when they need it. How can professionals help? PrairieCare is celebrating 10 years in Rochester! This anniversary is a significant milestone for us, and it holds much meaning for Matt Petersen, RN, our Southern Minnesota Regional Operations Director. He helped PrairieCare at the start in Rochester, hoping to fill a gap in the community. Today, we have seen immense change, growing from a team of 7 to about 50 caring individuals. “Our consistent growth I think helps confirm that we are helping make a difference in people's lives,” said Matt. “An accomplishment I am quite proud of has been our ability to try and meet the community's needs.” Over the years, Rochester has continued to evolve based on the community’s needs. Their team has introduced new adult programming and even specialty tracks focused on disordered eating, Mental Illness/Chemical Dependency, and more. We want to thank our dedicated and caring team members who have contributed to this milestone, including our community partners who have welcomed us and supported our mission of providing the community with the psychiatric care they truly need. #Anniversary #MentalHealth #Rochester #Therapy

Just this week, we expanded treatment at our hospital to include people 35 and younger who are experiencing severe mental health symptoms. Since opening our young adult unit in the fall of 2023, we continue to see an increased need throughout the state, and through our flex unit, we can now accommodate a larger age range. We hope this new milestone helps us care for more young adults when they need it most. Learn more about our hospital and our immediate admission option: https://ow.ly/KcnT50Sm13V

Today is Juneteenth, marking the end of slavery and a reflection of Black Americans' journey, achievements, and resilience. It is a day to spotlight the story of determination to overcome the horrific period of enslavement that intertwines American history and still influences life today. May we celebrate this holiday as an influential milestone in the country’s journey to equitable treatment for all. There continues to be barriers rooted in racism that prevent people from achieving almost all aspects of human rights including healthcare, the justice system, education, and more. If you want to take actionable step forward, register for our complimentary CE webinar on BIPOC mental health led by Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Asfia Qaadir, DO. Sometimes, we hear professionals and community members discussing how our services are always full. Whether those assumptions are based on the uptick of mental health challenges, seasonality of programming needs, or other factors, we break it all down on our blog. Learn how potential patients access services at PrairieCare, tips for referring professionals, how waitlists work, criteria that could exclude a patient from a program, and more.
