Beryl strengthened overnight into a category 1 hurricane as forecast. The eye has made landfall and is currently Northeast of Bay City, TX. The majority of the storm is currently spread across Houston and its surrounding suburbs. Beryl’s continuing to bring significant rainfall to the area. Along with the storm surge across the coast, much of the area is experiencing flash flooding and that’s expected to continue throughout the day in the area.   We’re seeing sustained winds of 40 mph along the North and West sides of the storm. The next 4 hours will continue to bring heavy rain and sustained winds across Houston as Beryl’s eye curves around Houston continuing its path further inland into Texas. If you’re working or live in the area, please continue to stay alert and please pay attention to current weather and road conditions. https://bit.ly/4cGOVwD #hurricaneseason2024 #StaySafe #PowerControl #WeatherWatch

Tropical Storm Beryl is continuing its path along the Gulf of Mexico. The path hasn’t deviated much in the past 24 hours. The eye of the storm is expected to make landfall slightly up the coast from Rockport to Palacios. The outer bands will affect the entire Texas coastline. All of which is under at least a Tropical Storm Warning. Beryl is still a Tropical Storm but is expected to make it to a category 1 hurricane this evening prior to landfall. It’s nowhere near the destructive storm it was as it passed through the islands in the Caribbean. Beryl’s status as a hurricane is expected to be short lived, as it will rapidly lose strength as it makes landfall overnight. The coast will experience rain and scattered storms throughout the day today as weather develops off the outer bands of Beryl. Moving into late night hours tonight the area can expect widespread downpours and at least tropical storm force winds. Coastal flooding due to storm surge and inland flash flooding is expected along the initial path of the storm around Bay City and Victoria, TX. PowerSecure is monitoring Beryl closely. As the storm moves along the Texas coast and inland, PowerControl Monitoring will be working with customers to ensure assets are operating as needed. PowerSecure Service has technicians available as the storm passes to assist customers with any troubleshooting that may be required.

Tropical Storm Beryl has shifted its path to the North. The area of high pressure across the southeast subsided and shifted more to the East, which has allowed Beryl to curve. This now shifts the expected landfall from the southern edge of Texas along the Mexican border to Rockport, TX slightly North of Corpus Christi. Beryl is expected to strengthen over the next 24-36 hours back into a category 1 hurricane as it passes through the Gulf of Mexico. When it makes landfall, Beryl is still expected to bring hurricane force winds along the Texas coast and tropical force winds throughout the region as is moves inland between San Antonio and Houston.   Flash flooding will also be a significant risk throughout southeastern Texas through the duration of the storm. Beryl is expected to bring 6-8 inches of rain along its direct path and 2-4 along its outer edges. Low lying areas will be at significant risk along with those areas along the coast. https://bit.ly/4cGOVwD #hurricaneseason2024 #StaySafe #PowerControl #WeatherWatch

Hurricane Beryl has arrived in Mexico this morning. The storm is actively moving West/Northwest across the Yucatán Peninsula as forecast. Beryl was downgraded to a Category 2 hurricane and is expected to continue to weaken as it passes over land for the next 24-36 hours. It’s likely that Beryl will be downgraded to a Tropical Storm over the weekend. However, the Beryl is forecast to slow down as it enters the Gulf of Mexico. The forecast is expecting Beryl to regain some strength in the Gulf and make landfall as a category 1 Hurricane. Hurricane Beryl’s forecast has also slowly shifted more to the North in the past 24 hours. While not a guarantee, it’s appearing more likely that Beryl will make landfall around Port Isabel, Texas. The storm is expected to bring significant rainfall to South Texas and the coastline. Tropical Storm force winds will be expected to arrive in the region by Sunday morning. PowerSecure, Inc.'s PowerControl Monitoring has and will continue storm preparations throughout the weekend. People working or living in those regions should remain alert to warnings and take appropriate measures to remain safe. https://bit.ly/4cGOVwD #hurricaneseason2024 #WeatherWatch #StaySafe #PowerControl

Hurricane Beryl is continuing its slow move west across the Caribbean Sea. Beryl was slightly downgraded to a Category 4 Hurricane, but it’s still going to bring devastating winds and rain to Jamaica by midday today. It will pass over Jamaica and arrive in the Cayman Islands early on Thursday. Both are under hurricane warnings and extremely dangerous conditions are anticipated. Beryl’s forecast has remained consistent. The hurricane is expected to continue to weaken due to continued windshear and interaction with landmasses. The storm could be downgraded to a tropical storm by Friday afternoon as it passes over Belize and the Yucatán Peninsula. Once Beryl lands back in the Gulf of Mexico, it has a chance to regain strength before making landfall in Northern Mexico. PowerControl Monitoring is also tracking AL96. The system is following an almost identical path to Beryl. However, the system is moving much faster at 20-25 mph, which is allowing the storm less time to develop before interacting with landmasses and experiencing the windshear currently across the Caribbean. https://bit.ly/4cGOVwD #hurricaneseason2024 #WeatherWatch #StaySafe #PowerControl

PowerSecure’s PowerControl Monitoring is tracking a system behind Hurricane Beryl. AL96, which is its current designation, is continuing to follow Beryl’s path as it strengthens in the Atlantic. The system is likely to form into a named storm this week, but it’s still too early to accurately predict the system’s impact. PowerSecure will continue to monitor the system’s path closely and update as the situation changes. https://bit.ly/4cGOVwD
