Founder @ Outerly | Solving loneliness with nature ☀️

I bought myself a picture book today, at 30 years old 📚 ✨ I don't usually wander around in the children's section of the bookstore, but in an attempt to find gifts for two young girls, I found myself perusing the colorful shelves full of picture books at Politics and Prose Bookstore. As I was looking across the titles on the bindings, one caught my eye: "Outside In" by Deborah Underwood, illustrated by Cindy Derby Hilariously, this is what I decided years ago that my book was going to be titled if I ever wrote one. And it was like this book had been written for the child version of Kay - the illustrated protagonist even looks like me when I was young. The message in this book, about how the outdoors is in all of us, hit me so hard in the feels I nearly cried on the floor of the bookstore as I flipped through the pages. So, I bought it as a gift to myself. The story, the images, the messages behind it brought me so much joy, and I'm excited to flip through over and over and imagine like a child again.
