About us
Philabundance seeks to drive hunger from our communities today and end hunger forever. It serves approximately 90,000 people per week, a third of whom are children and 15% of whom are seniors. In 2016, Philabundance distributed approximately 24 million pounds of food through its own neighborhood distribution programs and through a network of 350 member agencies in 9 counties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Three quarters of a million people in our service area face hunger every day. Their stories are as diverse as the nine counties we serve: working families hit hard by the recession, women, children, seniors trying to make ends meet. The one thing they have in common is being part of a food system that desperately needs additional support. Philabundance was founded in 1984 with the simple belief that no man, woman or child should go hungry. Join us.

Since 2011, we’ve teamed up with Citizens and the Philadelphia Phillies for the annual Phans Feeding Families Game & Food Drive. This year was a tremendous success and we’re so grateful to everyone who donated to help provide healthy, nutritious food for the people we serve! Thank you citizens and the Phillies for partnering with us once again to relieve hunger in our communities! We'd also like to express our gratitude to Aramark, The GIANT Company, and Toyota North America for their support and dedication to our mission!

One in five children across the U.S. face hunger. In our region, that number is one in six. A grant from the Morgan Stanley Foundation is helping us change that. Learn how: https://ow.ly/3tPt50SplQp Feeding America

Our Philabundance Community Kitchen students recently visited the Carversville Farm Foundation. As we toured this beautiful farm, we learned about livestock, tasted fresh organic vegetables, and gained insights into the farm-to-table process. This hands-on experience is crucial in enriching our students' culinary education. It was an incredible educational experience! Thank you for allowing us to tour and learn more about your mission!

Summertime brings fun and relaxation, but it also highlights a critical issue: summer hunger. With schools closed, many children who rely on school meals face increased food insecurity, especially with rising food costs. Today, we launched the Lunchbox program at the Philabundance Community Kitchen. Sponsored by The GIANT Company, this program will distribute 60,000 lunch meals and 11,000 breakfast kits to children faced with food insecurity this summer. Starting June 18th and running until August 24th, this program will help provide children with the nourishment they need and deserve to thrive. Thank you to all who supported us today including Councilmember-at-Large Nicolas O'Rourke, Senator Sharif Street, Councilmember-at-Large Nina Ahmad, Councilmember-at-large Jim Harrity, Councilman Jeffery Young, Jr., Esq., Small Things Inc, Bebashi - Transition to Hope, Beulah Baptist Church, CityTeam, MATTIE N DIXON COMM CUPBOARD, Bucks County Opportunity Council, and Puerto Rican Unity for Progress, Inc.. Special thanks to our dedicated volunteers from Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. for packing nutritious lunch and breakfast kits, which will be distributed through our community partners to those in need.
