Agriculture Volunteer Ozzy and his counterpart, Tamba, are gearing up for the rainy season in The Gambia. Their focus? Empowering smallholder farmers, especially women, to cultivate orange-fleshed sweet potatoes. 🍠 These nutrient-rich sweet potatoes do great in the local climate, offering a promising source of income and nutrition. Ozzy and Tamba are aiming to expand this initiative within their community, so that all families get access to creating opportunities and to nourishing foods for healthy, thriving lives. Have you thought about taking your agriculture skills overseas? Check out our current openings: https://bit.ly/3y1tAz5 #PeaceCorps #PeaceCorpsTheGambia

🌱 Project Update! 🌱 In Zambia, Peace Corps Volunteer Rileigh and her counterpart have collaborated with 18 local farmers on rural aquaculture projects – enhancing economic opportunities, boosting food security, and paving the path for more resilient local communities. Adine, a young fish farmer, is one of those farmers who has benefitted from this partnership! He initially faced setbacks with the placement of his ponds. But through Rileigh, her counterpart's support, and a Peace Corps grant, Adine gained the knowledge and tools to make his ponds thrive. Now, Adine manages five successful fishponds, showcasing the positive impact of when Peace Corps Volunteers and communities come together on locally prioritized projects. 🤝🐟 #PeaceCorps #PeaceCorpsZambia
