It's the big #PrideinSouthTyneside weekend as we celebrate Pride in Hebburn (Hebburn Town Centre) and Pride Pooches (West Park Jarrow). On Saturday (13th) between 10am and 4pm, we'll be taking over Hebburn Town Centre for its first pride celebration and it has community at its very core. It's a FREE fun packed day of entertainment, market stalls, crafting workshops, food markets, music, prizes and more. We then head to Jarrow on Sunday for Pride Pooches sponsored by Tyne & Wear Metro and Lumo, celebrating our four-legged friends. We'll have market stalls, a mini-pride with Curious Arts, crafting workshops, food vendors, inflatable rides for the kids, face painting and a chance to win a rosette or two in our dog competition. The categories are: • Best FancyDress – if it comes to a tie-break, extra points will be awarded for home-made costumes • Waggiest Tale – bring along biscuits, a ball or whatever makes your dog the happiest • Best dressed dog and owner – matching outfits are a must • Handsomest Dog • Prettiest Bitch • Dog the judges would want to take home–this is the star prize for the day It all takes place at West Park, Jarrow, from 12pm to 4pm and it's ALL FREE! It’s a busy week ahead as we celebrate #PrideinSouthTyneside and every event is FREE! You can check out the Flag in the Map exhibition at The Word which explores the rainbow flag in all parts of the world. There’s a screening of the Times of Harvey Milk which documents the life of the amazing Harvey Milk and his political rise as an LGBTQ+ activist. On Saturday we take over Hebburn town centre as we celebrate #PrideinHebburn with a brilliant day of activities, performances, market stalls and an extended food market. You can also get all crafty at our zining and placard making workshops at Hebburn Central with ReportOUT. And on Sunday, it all goes to the dogs…..with Pride Pooches sponsored by Tyne & Wear Metro and Lumo.
