To commemorate the eighth anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub Shooting, Pride Radio will be playing a special documentary, Remembering Pulse Nightclub, tonight at 9pm. The events on 12th June 2016 are still raw for many people. Pulse, one of the biggest nightclubs in Orlando, was holding a Latin-themed event that was nearing its end when a man entered and opened fire. There were more than 300 people inside at the time. 49 people were killed and 53 wounded. Tonight we pay tribute to those that lost their lives and speak to the survivors. About us
Pride Radio is an inclusive radio station broadcasting across the North East on 89.2FM, DAB and throughout the UK on the free Pride World Media app, Tunein and smart speakers. We are based at the Pride Media Centre, the UK’s first LGBT+ business and media hub. Pride Radio has been broadcasting since 2010 and, in that time, we’ve grown a diverse audience who love our mix of live and pre-recorded shows, great music, lively conversation and listener interaction. We are a proud, inclusive broadcaster who supports and works closely with our fantastic listeners, allies and the wider community. Pride Radio is run by Pride Community Network Ltd; a not-for-profit organisation that aims to raise awareness of LGBT+ issues, supports health initiatives and promotes social inclusion and diversity through broadcasts and events. Pride Community Network supports charities and not-for-profit organisations with free campaigns and airtime and holds professional and social networking events to engage members of the community. Working with partner organisations including the NHS, local and national health providers, campaigning organisations, community groups and education establishments, we deliver a range of initiatives including sexual health and wellbeing, gender identity and mental health awareness. Through Pride Radio and the unique events facilities available to us at Pride Media Centre; Pride Community Network supports health, wellbeing and positive social change within Gateshead and the wider community. This was recognised at the National Community Radio station awards when Pride Community Network was named community radio network 2021 out of 400 stations.
