We have exciting news to share! Our Streets is in the midst of launching our very own affordable housing project. We have recently acquired the former carwash property on NE MLK Jr. Blvd to turn into a housing complex. Since this project is in its pre-development phase for the next few years, we will be decorating the property with its very own mural. We'd love for you to join us the morning of July 27th for a mural painting party. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. This event is family friendly, so anyone under the age of 15 can attend with adult supervision. Pre-registration is recommended. You can register here: https://lnkd.in/gW3wRiHn. We look forward to seeing you all there! 🎨 #volunteerpdx #volunteerportland #pdxnonprofit

We are so grateful for our title sponsors for our upcoming fundraiser, the Sunstone Way and Do Good Multnomah Nourish & Flourish Benefit. Sunstone Way, now formerly All Good Northwest, is a nonprofit organization serving our unhoused neighbors in the Portland metro area and beyond through a variety of low-barrier shelter and housing programs. With an emphasis on behavioral health and housing retention, they meet individuals where they are and foster sustainable goals to help them along their journey. Do Good Multnomah is a nonprofit organization providing shelter and resources. Do Good Multnomah believes housing is a human right, and are passionate about providing relevant, useful, and responsive support to end the injustice of Veteran houselessness. By providing individualized support that meets their participants’ diverse needs, they are transforming the reality of houselessness in Portland with a person-centered approach connecting folks with a spectrum of resources, because unwavering support produces positive outcomes. Sunstone Way and Do Good Multnomah are Our Streets’ primary meal recipients. We deliver meals to their shelters every day of the week to ensure their residents have access to nutritious, well-rounded food. It is an honor to work with them, and an honor to have their support for this event. Tickets are available here: https://lnkd.in/gZ82YD7B. We'd love to have you join us for an evening of celebration & community. 🌞

While it has been a scary and challenging time for the LGBTQ+ community in the U.S., Pride remains more important than ever. 🏳️🌈 Pride is about resistance and joy, and we'll always celebrate that. 🏳️⚧️ #pride #pride2024 #ourstreets #portlandoregon #pdx #pdxnonprofit #pnw

A Juneteenth fun fact for you: Portland did not celebrate the holiday until Clara Peoples, a Black woman from the south, hosted a Juneteenth picnic in 1945. She created a legacy for herself and went on to host the first official Juneteenth event in 1972. Today we celebrate the freedom of Black Americans, while remembering that there is much more work and advocacy to be done. 🖤

Our favorite part of the summer is getting harvested greens from Kindness Farm for our meals. Being able to incorporate fresh vegetables is a top priority, and it's all the better when it's from a nonprofit partner like Kindness Farm who also does amazing work for the Portland community. 🖤 #ourstreets #ourstreetspdx #pdxnonprofit #portlandoregon #pdx #pnw

June 13th 2020 is our birthday, and today we turn four! How the time flies. Since our origin, we have prepared and distributed more than 741,000 meals to the community, including more than 82,600 free meals. Through this we have repurposed more than 270,000 pounds of food, and have had the incredible dedicating of more than 4,500 volunteer hours. Thank you to everyone who has supported us, whether it was from the beginning when we were just the little nonprofit that could, or more recently as we've evolved. The work we do is not possible without our partners, volunteers, donors, all of you. Thank you 🖤

AAPI Heritage month may have come to a close, but the history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders remains. Hawai'i's own history is rampant with colonization and cultural shifts. You can read about it in our newest blog post: https://lnkd.in/gQq2EW7Q #ourstreets #ourstreetspdx #pdx #pdxnonprofit #portlandnonprofit #portlandoregon

For this Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we want to highlight a piece of history that was essentially erased and forgotten by Portland until 2004, despite being an integral part of this city's development. Read on in the slides to learn more. ➡ #ourstreets #ourstreetspdx #pdxnonprofit #aapiheritagemonth #pdx #portlandoregon #pnw
