This week, Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) James Honea addressed the ONR workforce at our weekly All Hands meeting, covering a wide range of topics. Throughout his remarks, MCPON Honea expressed his gratitude to ONR for integral contributions and technology transmissions to Sailors and Marines, noting that when it comes to providing the best S&T to our Fleet and Force, ONR is at the forefront of every conversation. It was an honor to host MCPON Honea and learn about his impressive career, many professional achievements on behalf of our Nation’s Sailors, and continuing efforts to support Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Lisa Franchetti and the Naval mission. ⚓

I'm proud to announce that CSO and the Office of Naval Research (ONR) just launched a new initiative to conduct unclassified research with Howard University and the University of California, Berkeley. Scholars from both institutions will research and analyze drivers of instability in Africa and the Indo-Pacific, which will help U.S. decision-makers shape policies addressing global instability. This initiative, with funding from the ONR, allows universities to collaborate with the U.S. government to produce data and research to #PromoteStability. Patrick Mason Gloria W. #DYK On this day in the Navy in 1964, Four Navy Divers (Lt. Cmdr. Robert Thompson, Gunners Mate First Class Lester Anderson, Chief Quartermaster Robert A. Barth, and Chief Hospital Corpsman Sanders Manning) submerged in Sealab I at a depth of 192 feet, 39 miles off Hamilton, Bermuda for an intended three weeks using saturation #diving techniques. The crew surfaced early on July 31 due to an oncoming tropical storm. Later in the 1960s, #Seabee divers became major contributors to the early success of the "Man-in-the-Sea" programs, including SEALAB II and TEKTITE II undersea laboratories. In 1969, it became evident there was need for a dedicated unit on each coast to support Fleet Underwater Construction. In 1974, the two detachments of Seabee divers were commissioned as Underwater Construction Teams. #NavyDiving #Divers #DiveNavy #SeabeeDivers #UCT #UnderwaterLab #ManInTheSea

Our interview with Adam Goff, Materials Fellow at Luna Labs, reveals why #BlockadeGC is the right solution at the right time to provide a #nonchrome alternative to legacy coatings. Blockade™ GC represents a significant step forward in protecting military and industry assets from the destructive and expensive effects of galvanic corrosion. Special thanks for support received through Office of Naval Research, Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), and #USAF AFWERX. #corrosionprevention #protectivecoatings #galvaniccorrosion

💡ATTENTION! Innovation in action Interns from the Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (SEAP) took part in a rapid prototyping event at NSWCDD’s Innovation Lab. Their mission? To develop a low-cost, adaptable and warfighter-friendly threat emitter prototype. With guidance from subject matter experts, these talented students—chosen for their academic achievements, personal statements, recommendations and research interests—skillfully integrated electronic circuits, programming software and 3D design to create a functional prototype. We're proud to announce that their hard work paid off! They successfully tested their prototype in an anechoic test chamber. Kudos to these young innovators for their determination and creativity. The future of naval research looks bright! 🌟 #NSWCDD #USNavy #Navy #STEM #SEAP #Innovation
