About us
As the largest natural gas distribution company in Illinois, Nicor Gas ensures that natural gas – an American, abundant, affordable and clean energy source – reaches more than 2.2 million homes and businesses in an area that encompasses most of the northern third of Illinois, excluding the city of Chicago and parts of northern Cook County and Lake County. More than 2,000 employees construct, operate, maintain and inspect its natural gas distribution system to ensure natural gas flows safety and reliably to customers each day. While much has changed about Nicor Gas during the last 150 years, some very important things have remained the same – including making the safety of its employees, customers and communities at the heart of everything that it does. As a company, Nicor Gas is committed to investing in programs and initiatives that invigorate the economy, enrich the community, enhance diversity, promote education and support environmental stewardship. Nicor Gas is part of the fabric of this region and is proud to give back to the communities where its employees live, work and raise their families.
