  • As we near the end of Mental Health Awareness Month, the NFL Player Care Foundation strives to continue prioritizing the well-being of former players and promoting open conversations about mental health beyond May. Our organization's mission is to improve the quality of life of former NFL players; and mental health is a core component of overall well-being. It can help you cope with life's stressors, increase overall satisfaction with your individual journey, maintain valuable human connections, and identify your potential for growth. We hope this short video serves as a reminder that dealing with life's challenges can be overwhelming, and everyone deserves to feel empowered to seek help when needed. PCF supports former players year-round through its various mental health and financial programs. We have three social workers on staff to help former players navigate their options and locate resources that best fit their needs. On June 14th, 17 NFL Legends convened at the Microsoft headquarters in Redmond, WA, to celebrate their graduation from the inaugural Microsoft Leap NFL Legend Cohort - Technical Program Management pathway. This program, run jointly by the NFL Player Care Foundation (PCF) and Microsoft, provides former NFL players with hands-on education, training sessions, and networking opportunities, allowing them to use their NFL experiences to kick off their tech careers.   At the session, these NFL Legends gathered to hear panels from Microsoft and NFL executives, tour the Microsoft campus as a team, network, and deliver their final group presentations to an audience of employers, culminating in their graduation from the Microsoft Leap program.   A big congratulations to these NFL Legends – we can’t wait to see how your tech careers flourish!    For more information about this program and other services and resources offered to former NFL players through the NFL Player Care Foundation (PCF), please visit: https://lnkd.in/enhRmEnj

  • Meet Leigh Torrence. Leigh is an NFL Legend and Super Bowl Champion – who is now becoming a champion in the tech industry. With a diverse and dynamic background spanning coaching, education and business – the Stanford University alumnus is eager for his pivot into the Technical Program Management (TPM) space. As a member of the Microsoft Leap NFL Legend cohort graduating on Friday, it's clear that Leigh's dedication to excellence and learning knows no bounds – and we can't wait to see him thrive in his new venture. Keep raising the bar, Leigh Torrence.

  • Meet Marcus Peterson , MBA. Marcus is an NFL Legend transferring the skills from his experience in the NFL into the world of Technical Program Management (TPM). If you asked Marcus, he'd tell you that his journey through playing football at the highest level equipped him with the skills of strategic communications, leadership, and problem solving. But if you looked at his LinkedIn profile – you'd also see Marcus' MBA and participation in the Microsoft Leap NFL Legend cohort has put him at the unique intersection of finance, sports, and tech. Keep raising the bar, Marcus.

  • May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the NFL Player Care Foundation is excited to be a part of the conversation. We are committed to breaking down barriers to resources, increasing awareness, and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health. During this month and every month, it’s important to take time to reflect on your mental wellbeing and recognize when it’s time to reach out for support – there are resources available to you year-round. We hope to empower a culture of openness, where seeking help is embraced as a strength. Join us on this important mission and encourage others to do the same. Let’s work together to prioritize our mental health, spread understanding, and support one another.

Our NFL Legends made it to the halfway point of their skilling journey! In the first 4-weeks of their virtual classroom training, this group has consistently shown up ready to learn, working hard to grow their skills and technical proficiencies week by week. Next up for our Legend Spotlight: William Rackley III – he is a celebrated NFL veteran with 5 years of experience playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Baltimore Ravens. Post NFL, Will has excelled in full stack web development, project management, and more. Best of luck on your #LegendsCohort2024 journey, Will!

Yesterday, we welcomed Russell Scibetti and Ty Siam from the New York Football Giants to speak with our #LegendsCohort2024 about how they’re leveraging technology for better decision-making across all lines of business. They delivered an insightful session focused on how data has changed the way front offices think about the game, both on and off the field. When asked about how to prepare and present data to their colleagues, they emphasized the importance of effective communication: “You could have the best data in the world, but if you can’t communicate what it means – then you have nothing. The key is knowing how to translate technical expertise to all audiences.” Thank you again, Russell and Ty, for this incredible session with our Legends!
