There's so much to discover at Coastal Camp this summer! Campers from the California Newts group collected insects and macroinvertebrates from the creek as part of our Headlands Habitat session. 🐛 🐞 🐜 #outdoorlearning #NatureEducation #EnvironmentalStewardship #NatureLovers #YouthInNature #ExploreOutdoors #SustainableFuture #HandsOnLearning #NatureConservation #ProtectOurParks

We connect young people to the natural world in nature's best classroom—our national parks!
About us
Environmental science in nature’s classroom NatureBridge provides hands-on environmental science programs for young people. Our multi-day programs take place outdoors in the magnificence of nature’s classroom, where students are immersed in the wonder and science of our national parks in Yosemite, Golden Gate, Olympic and Prince William Forest. Founded as Yosemite Institute in 1971, today NatureBridge welcomes more than 700 schools and 30,000 students and teachers annually to our four campuses. After more than 50 years of teaching and inspiring students, NatureBridge has provided life-changing experiences for more than one million participants and is a national leader in the field of environmental education. Providing access for all students NatureBridge environmental science programs are inclusive. We work intentionally to bring students from underserved communities to our programs and to offer culturally relevant and transformative experiences in our national parks. Almost 50% of our participating schools receive scholarship support and more than 30% of our students are from underrepresented communities. The NatureBridge business model is fueled by a powerful combination of earned and contributed revenue. More than 70% of our revenue comes from the tuition associated with our environmental science programs and the remaining 30% comes from donations. As a 501(c)(3) we rely on generous donations to advance our mission, to provide scholarships, and to support new curricula development and program extensions into classrooms. Making an impact Our staff of environmental science educators is at the core of our organization. Working with small groups of elementary, middle, and high school students, our educators bring science to life in national parks through engaging environmental science lessons paired with walks, hikes, scrambles, explorations and overnight backcountry expeditions to the best spots in each park.

On June 21, NatureBridge Olympic staff released 129 coho salmon fry into the Clallam River to begin the next phase of their journey. These young salmon have called our Olympic campus home since early February, when they arrived as tiny eggs from Hurd Creek Hatchery. NatureBridge staff and students attentively cared for the fry through the spring season as the coho developed and grew large enough to be released into the wild. Keep on swimming, little salmon! 🐟 #outdoorlearning #NatureEducation #EnvironmentalStewardship #NatureLovers #YouthInNature #ExploreOutdoors #SustainableFuture #HandsOnLearning #NatureConservation #ProtectOurParks

This year, we received an unprecedented number of applicants for our annual Student of the Year award, and we were honored to hear the stories they had to share about their experiences at NatureBridge. We would like to recognize one of our 2024 runners-up, eighth grader Nina Mao from San Jose, CA, who attended NatureBridge Golden Gate with her class from Stratford School Palo Alto in 2023. At NatureBridge, Nina and her classmates explored marine ecosystems, encountered a breathtaking view of the Golden Gate Bridge from Hawk Hill, and learned that “new doesn’t mean bad.” Nina is one of the thousands of young people who has been impacted by their time at NatureBridge and who continue to inspire those around them with their commitment to our planet. “I want to reiterate what an incredible program Coastal Camp and NatureBridge is. From the location, to the staff, to the experience, it's magnificent. This is the girls’ third year and I attribute some of their independence, curiosity, and love of the outdoors to their time with the organization. They squeal with delight when they get home, telling me all about the hikes they took, the plants they learned about, and the scat they saw. I even told them this morning that I wish there was an adult camp at NatureBridge.” –Coastal Camp parent There's still time for your camper to join us at Coastal Camp this summer! We have a few open spots for K-12 campers in several sessions; check our current availability: https://lnkd.in/g535QUvQ ☀️ 🐚 🌱 #outdoorlearning #NatureEducation #EnvironmentalStewardship #NatureLovers #YouthInNature #ExploreOutdoors #SustainableFuture #HandsOnLearning #NatureConservation #ProtectOurParks

Happy summer solstice! Today, the sun will reach its highest point in the sky and give those of us in the Northern Hemisphere our longest day of the year. How are you spending the longest day of sunlight this year? As for us, if we could paddle a Salish style canoe around Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park for all 16 hours of daylight, we would! 🌞 🛶 #outdoorlearning #NatureEducation #EnvironmentalStewardship #NatureLovers #YouthInNature #ExploreOutdoors #SustainableFuture #HandsOnLearning #NatureConservation #ProtectOurParks
