Thoughtful and elegant design isn't just for humanity. It can serve the good of life at all scales.
Truly, if we can build & restore degraded ecolgical areas and make space for life in the nooks and crannies of our urban spaces, we could do much to support species at risk and reacquaint ourselves with the beauty and meaning of life. https://lnkd.in/gZXmVRC9

Dive into a brief history of how the Presidio Tunnel Tops came to be from WaterNow Alliance's Cynthia Koehler. The Tunnel Tops, located above CA-101, opened in 2022 and helped connect people to parks, wildlife, and the Bay. Green infrastructure, including native plants, helps capture stormwater and prevent pollution from entering our local waterways. Check out this quick clip to learn more about this beautiful and important green space!
Welcome to Tunnel Tops and Crissy Field in San Francisco. These adjoining spaces on the bay provide recreation for the public, capture water with green infrastructure, and offer habitat for wildlife, explains Cynthia Koehler of WaterNow Alliance. #water #watersolutions #greeninfrastructure #sanfrancisco

We need more nature in our urban and near urban areas. More access to nature = more vibrant and resilient communities
The Federal Government is actively working on new National Urban Parks at 6 sites and has committed to a total of 15 new urban parks across Canada. Your added support could help secure federal attention towards #Guelph and turn this initiative into an instrument for Indigenous reconciliation, climate resilience, wildlife recovery, and access to green space 🌳 Lend your voice by signing an electronic petition organized by the local group Urban Park Guelph:https://lnkd.in/gqNXPKMb ⏳ Deadline is January 18th

Urban wetlands are not urban wastelands. Local and regional governments have a special role to play in protecting our planet's #wetlands. Last June, Mayors and officials from 23 Wetland Cities across the world gathered to discuss common approaches and challenges to #wetlandsconservation in urban areas. Read more about the gathering: https://lnkd.in/eFNKUNvt CitiesWithNature & RegionsWithNature provides an important platform that can contribute to cities’ efforts in setting baselines and reaching targets when it comes to wetland protection and restoration: https://lnkd.in/g9HeXuKB #citiesbiodiversitycenter

Today is #WorldWetlandsDay, but every day should be dedicated to raising awareness and protecting the natural resources that are central to our well-being. Did you know that Florida's wetlands are not just beautiful, but also crucial for our environment and well-being? They filter water, prevent flooding, reduce carbon emissions, and support diverse wildlife. 🌊 🐟 🌿 Coastal Resilience Program Coordinator, Haley Cox recently shared with Florida Sea Grant about the environmental role salt marsh wetlands play on the Big Bend region of Florida. A few key takeaways we learned from Haley are: 1- Salt marshes in Florida are culturally & economically significant, supporting communities reliant on seafood production and ecotourism. 2- Salt marshes serve as crucial breeding, nesting, and foraging grounds for bird species, and act as exceptional nurseries for juvenile fish and other organisms by providing shelter from larger predators. 3- Salt marshes absorb, filter, and remove pollutants that impact water quality. ✨ Learn more about preserving Florida's coastline and salt marsh conservation efforts at UF Center for Coastal Solutions ✨ Click the link below to read the full interview and to learn more: https://bit.ly/3HLfa7w
