A few weeks ago the MAA team traveled to Capitol Hill to meet with Congressional members and attend the final public committee hearing reviewing the Autism Care Demonstration program. It was hot walking between the Senate and House buildings and we were sweating through our business suits! But all of the sweat was worth it as we push toward the goal of ensuring military children with autism have access to quality ABA services. Check out our social media post from July 3rd. We broke down the proposed laws that will affect your daily life. Some proposed laws were exciting like adaptive playgrounds and legal assistance with IEPs, but others may only complicate our lives like introducing medical case managers to the EFMP process. The #MAA team reviewed the House version of the Defense Bill. There were interesting provisions that will affect military families with exceptional needs! Stimming. Teammate Kay’s daughter stim has never outgrown stimming. There hasn’t really been any changes, either. Hand flapping and purposeful pacing with a periodic skipping in the cadence.
