Coach at Just4Veterans | USMC Veteran | Empowering veterans to secure the benefits they earned through dedicated support.
Many veterans face a hidden enemy after service: Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, or GERD. This condition occurs when stomach acid backs up into the esophagus, leading to heartburn and discomfort. Why Veterans? Military service can increase the risk of GERD due to factors like stress, certain medications, and even physical injuries. The VA Recognizes GERD The good news is the VA understands the significant impact GERD can have on a veteran's life, even exceeding the impact of conditions like heart disease and diabetes. Veterans with GERD may qualify for disability benefits to help manage this condition. #gerd #veterancare #veteransupport

IMPORTANT PACT ACT UPDATE! Until 11:59 p.m. Sept. 30, 2023, Veterans who deployed to a combat zone, never enrolled in VA health care and left the military between Sept. 11, 2001, and Oct. 1, 2013, are eligible to enroll directly in VA health care through the PACT Act. This special enrollment period gives Veterans who served in Iraq, Afghanistan and other combat zones an opportunity to enroll directly in VA health care without first applying for disability compensation benefits. VA encourages all of these Veterans to visit VA.gov/PACT or call 1-800-MYVA411 to learn more and sign up for VA health care before the deadline. Veterans who are enrolled in VA health care are proven to have better health outcomes than non-enrolled Veterans, and VA hospitals have dramatically outperformed non-VA hospitals in overall quality ratings and patient satisfaction ratings. Additionally, VA health care is often more affordable than non-VA health care for Veterans. #veterans #veteranssupportingveterans #veteransupport #veteranshelpingveterans #veteransbenefits #VeteransMentalHealth #veteranhealthcare #PACTAct #VABenefits #VeteranAffairs #iraq #Afghanistan #combatveteran #combat #deployment #health

Military Contractors vs. Medicaid in front of U.S. Congress (Take 1): Military Contractors (to Congress): We’d like to fund some wars, so we can sell some of this stuff. Congress: How many billions do you need? Medicaid (to Congress): We’d like to fund the hospital and hospice care for terminally ill patients. Congress: Take their homes. JTB 3-17-24

There are moments in life where we have the opportunity to be on the right side of an issue before it becomes normative. This not only requires leaders to be champions on an issue, but everyone needs to default to logic and compassion and not simply look at policy for a reason not to do something. Protecting our uniformed citizens from respiratory illnesses is one of these moments. We can help protect those who protect us with a simple pocket respirator like those provided by the Canadian company Ventus Respiratory Technologies. Invest now, protect our warriors, and lets pay them back for their service with a healthy future. Thanks for being a champion on this issue, Arjun. https://lnkd.in/eJeWSf_A #canadianarmedforces #veterans #veteranshelpingveterans #toxicexposure #militarymedicine

From 2010-2019, age-adjusted overdose mortality rates increased 53.2% among Veterans From 2010-2019, there were 42,627 overdose deaths among US Veterans. Uncounted, alcoholic deaths eclipsed that by a wide margin. These are ABSOLUTELY self-inflicted deaths, yet are not accounted for in the #22aday statistic we are all familiar with. This retrospective cross-sectional study used data from Veterans Affairs (VA) medical records, the VA/Department of Defense Mortality Data Repository, and CDC WONDER. Trends were compared using Joinpoint regression. Source:https://lnkd.in/gPhQGYSK USA Cares, Inc. Mission: USA Cares’ mission is to provide post-9/11 military veterans, service members, and their families with financial assistance and post service skills training to create a foundation for long-term stability. Our services improve the quality of life for veterans and their families and reduce potential factors that can contribute to veteran suicide. #enoughisenough #dosomething #veteransuicideawareness #veteransuicide

All Veterans exposed to toxins and other hazards during military service — at home or abroad — will be eligible for VA health care beginning March 5. Please share this information with your veteran communities and with your networks. Starting today, VA announced that all Veterans who were exposed to toxins and other hazards while serving in the military — at home or abroad — will be eligible to enroll directly in VA health care beginning March 5, 2024. This means that all Veterans who served in the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Global War on Terror, or any other combat zone after 9/11 will be eligible to enroll directly in VA health care without first applying for VA benefits. Additionally, Veterans who never deployed but were exposed to toxins or hazards while training or on active duty in the United States will also be eligible to enroll. VA encourages all eligible Veterans to visit VA.gov/PACT or call 1-800-MYVA411 to learn more and apply for VA health care beginning March 5. Since President Biden signed the PACT Act into law on August 10, 2022, more than 500,000 Veterans have enrolled in VA health care. For more information about how the PACT Act is helping Veterans and their survivors, visit VA’s PACT Act Dashboard. To apply for care or benefits today, visit VA.gov/PACT or call 1-800-MYVA411. ATTENTION VETERANS: Vietnam, Gulf War, Post 9/11 Vets... The PACT Act is a new law that expands VA health care and benefits for Veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances. The PACT Act adds to the list of health conditions that we assume (or “presume”) are caused by exposure to these substances. This law helps us provide generations of Veterans—and their survivors—with the care and benefits they’ve earned and deserve. #vetlanta #Veterans #veteran #VA #beallyoucanbe #burnpit

If you are a Veteran who has been dealing with back problems, here's some news: You might be eligible for significant disability benefits. Now, we know many of you have faced back troubles, and these issues might have existed even before your military service. But sometimes service can make things more complicated. You may have been left with sharp or dull pain, numbness in your extremities, or limited mobility. It's all encompassed in the medical term the VA uses: "radiculopathy." Many Veterans diagnosed with this condition receive substantial monthly financial support. Navigating government processes can be a daunting task, but the benefits you rightfully deserve can make a significant difference to you and your family. You're not alone in this journey. We've got your back. 🤝 #veteransdisability #vadisabilityrating #vadisabilitybenefits #backpain
