When Sears opened its store at Six Corners on Oct. 20, 1938, more than 99,500 customers poured into the aisles. MG2 has just completed 6 Corners Lofts in Chicago, converting that very Art Deco Sears store into mixed-use—retail and multifamily residential. The adaptive reuse project includes 200 residential units and over 50,000 sq. ft. of retail space. The Art Deco feel has been preserved yet modernized by punching out windows and adding balconies to the residences. In fact, every unit has access to the outdoors. Retail TouchPoints has recently published its Brand Experience Awards Report: "This year's Brand Experience Award winners represent the shifting priorities of the industry – from focusing on speed, efficiency, and safety to complete immersion and personalization across all channels." No project is a better example of immersion and personalization than Pop-up Winner SOREL. The key to turning this tiny storefront into a compelling short-term destination was its immersive, full-color Optimized Orange saturation. On its exterior, Sorel's mural takeover featured the brand’s larger-than-life polar bear logo walking across an orange brick exterior toward the store entrance, shielded by a large, orange canopy. Inside, 25 gallons of Optimized Orange paint covered the walls, ceiling, and floor. At the back of the space was an orange-drenched charm and lace personalization bar where shoppers could customize their boot purchases.
