International Self Care Day is on Wednesday July 24th and we want to pamper our Mavens! On this day, individuals throughout the world are encouraged to make self-care a part of their everyday routines and turn it into a priority. It is a milestone, and an opportunity to raise further awareness of the benefits of effective self-management of health and that's just what we are going to do! Meet María Rosana Mestre! Maria is a Venezuelan-born linguist and author who has dedicated her career to educating, advocating, and promoting Spanish as a foreign language in non-Spanish-speaking countries like Brazil and the United States. María received an MD in Literature Studies and Comparative Literature from the Universidade Federal do Paraná, is a published author, and runs Spanish For Entities, a language academy for corporate Spanish courses, language testing, and other language services. The academy provides B2B services, such as Spanish courses in-company for professional purposes tailored for English speakers. With a commitment to language and as a social responsibility, SFE created a cultural project, Libros Para Indy. This project seeks to involve all ages in reading by placing small libraries of Spanish books in schools, impacting literacy development and critical thinking. Fun Fact: Maria spent a complete summer in Indiana as a teenager in a summer English course immersion in Terre Haute and never thought she would be living here. She remembers the Circle Center opening in 1999 and going to a Cher concert.
