When we think about big contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, buildings may not immediately come to mind. But they should. Energy consumption from air conditioning, heating, and lighting accounts for almost 14% of all greenhouse gases—a problem exacerbated by inefficient windows and leaky gaps that allow heated or cooled air to escape and lead to even more energy consumption. Their solution uses two specially coated panes with a vacuum between them—a lot like the thermos for your coffee.
