The Living Wage is an independent movement of employers who believe a fair day’s work should mean a fair day's pay.
About us
The Living Wage Foundation is the organisation at the heart of the Living Wage movement in the UK. The Living Wage Foundation does three things: Accreditation: We offer accreditation to employers that pay the living wage, or those committed to an agreed timetable of implementation, by awarding the ‘Living Wage Employer’ mark. Intelligence: We provide advice and support to employers implementing the Living Wage including best practice guides; case studies from leading employers; model procurement frameworks; access to specialist legal and HR advice. Influence: We provide a forum for leading employers to publicly back the Living Wage. We work with six Principal Partners, Trust for London, KPMG, Linklaters, Resolution Foundation, Save the Children and Queen Mary University of London, who bring financial and strategic support to the work.

📢 CALL FOR TENDERS - ADVICE SECTOR PAY & CONDITIONS We warmly invite proposals for an exciting piece of research, which will help better understand the needs of advice workers as we seek to attract and retain talented and experienced staff. Our initial research has identified the challenges facing the advice sector in its efforts to develop sustainable and inclusive workforce pathways. Congratulations to Living Wage Employer Mercato Metropolitano who opened a new site in Ilford last week, bringing their total number of food halls to four. 🎉 🍾 Katherine Chapman, director of the Living Wage Foundation, said: “We are thrilled to see Mercato Metropolitano go from strength to strength with a real Living Wage for workers at its heart. Mercato Metropolitano’s commitment to the real Living Wage ensures its workers are always paid enough to live decent lives, vital after years of high living costs. It also sets a powerful example to other businesses in the hospitality industry, where 50% of workers are paid below the real Living Wage. “Mercato’s continued expansion demonstrates that paying the real Living Wage is not only good for workers, it’s also an essential investment for businesses looking to succeed in challenging economic conditions. That’s why the Living Wage movement has continued to see record growth, with nearly 15,000 businesses committed to paying all their directly employed and contracted-out staff in line with living costs.” Andrea Rasca #LivingWage #Ilford #London #food #hospitality

The Skills for Care Workforce Strategy launched today! It's brilliant to see a real Living Wage for adult social care workers recommended in the report. We know that over 400,000 care workers in England are paid below the real Living Wage. Despite being the backbone of our country, providing essential care to our loved ones when they need it most, many are struggling to make ends meet in insecure, poorly paid jobs that don't cover the cost of living. The new government has an opportunity to impact the lives of millions by committing to pay the real Living Wage for adult social care workers. Decent pay is a vital first step in addressing the staffing shortfall and building a sustainable social care system that values its workers and delivers high quality care. #LivingWage
For the first time ever the adult social care sector has come together to develop the Workforce Strategy that it needs. We need the Strategy to ensure we have enough of the right people with the right skills to provide the best possible care and support for the people who draw on it. https://lnkd.in/eYmUPuJ8

Are you a Living Wage Employer who wants to know how the Living Wage rates are calculated? Find out by watching the animation below 🎞️👇 The real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate independently calculated based on the cost of living. The calculation follows 3 steps: 1️⃣ Every two years focus groups representing different household types decide what should be in a core basket of goods to provide a minimally acceptable standard of living. 2️⃣ Everything in the basket is priced up. 3️⃣ A wage rate is calculated based on the cost of this core basket of goods, taking into account different household types as well as tax and benefit changes. Find out more about the real Living Wage rates and how they are calculated by following the link in the comments. #LivingWage #economics #poverty #wages #pay
