Iowa Juneteenth Observance reposted this
Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021 that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, specifically the day when Union General Gordon Granger announced the freedom of all slaves in Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865, two years after President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth symbolizes the long journey towards equality and civil rights while celebrating African American culture, heritage, and resilience. The historical injustices and ongoing struggles of African Americans has to be recognized, and we did it with a HUGE CITY BUS on @ridedart !!! #juneteenth #publictransit #OOH #advertising DART - Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority Adsposure Iowa Juneteenth Observance Dwana Bradley Kourtney Perry, OMBW www.adsposure.com

Today we celebrate Juneteenth! An official federal holiday. The start to ending slavery. We continue to educate Iowans on the importance of this holiday. By doing that we want you to learn more about the official flag that represents Juneteenth. The colors of blue, red, and white the a 5 point star. We ask that you start today using the correct colors when you promote, speak, and educate others. Please reach out to us for any educational needs.
