In a visit organized by Orlando Economic Partnership, Leadership Orlando toured imec and explored the impact imec and the semiconductor industry are having in Central Florida. 1. Cutting-edge R&D Contributions: R&D collaboration Anna Herr (imec), Dale Miller (SkyWater Technology) and Jay Galbraith (BRIDG) participated in a panel and shared insights on the future of semiconductor technology 2. Workforce Development Initiatives: STEM education Jayden Graham, NeoCity Academy student and intern, participated in a panel with CareerSource Central Florida, Valencia College, and BRIDG shared his personal experience and the impact of NeoCity Academy on his life and emphasized the opportunities provided by NeoCity-based organizations. 3. Empowering the Next Generation: Building a pipeline of skilled professionals: NeoCity Academy is influencing students' future careers and bridging the gap between education and industry needs. It is key to encourage students to pursue careers in semiconductor technology. 4. Regional Collaboration - Strengthening ties between academia and industry: The collaboration between imec, SkyWater Technology, and BRIDG is driving innovation in Central Florida and creating a supportive ecosystem for technological advancement. 5.     Imec and ASML have officially opened their joint High NA EUV Lithography Lab, marking a significant milestone in the journey toward advanced semiconductor manufacturing. This state-of-the-art facility will accelerate the adoption of High NA EUV lithography, enabling the production of next-generation chips with unprecedented precision. 🔍 Key Highlights: First Prototype: The lab features the first prototype High NA (0.55NA) EUV scanner, set to enhance the patterning of 14nm logic chips and DRAM memory chips. Single Exposure Efficiency: High NA EUV technology allows for the patterning of complex structures in a single exposure, significantly improving yield and reducing cycle times. Sustainability Impact: Transitioning to High NA EUV could lead to a 30% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to traditional multi-patterning methods. These innovative leaps are expected to pave the way for mass production by 2025-2026, redefining the semiconductor landscape!
