🔍 Addressing Racial Health Disparities through Medicaid 🔍 Racial and ethnic disparities in health remain persistent in the U.S., driven by inequities in access to healthcare and social determinants of health rooted in historic and ongoing racism and discrimination. As a major source of health coverage for people of color, Medicaid is crucial in addressing these disparities. Recent gains in coverage across racial and ethnic groups from 2019-2022 were driven by increases in Medicaid enrollment during the pandemic-related continuous enrollment provision. However, the unwinding of this provision could disproportionately affect people of color. It is vital to advocate for policies that maintain and expand Medicaid coverage to address and reduce these disparities.
