Hamilton County Departments are leading the way in their areas of expertise. Mary Maune, Program Coordinator of the Hamilton County Commission on Women & Girls, was invited to attend “Gender-Based Violence and Harassment in Focus: A Summit to Create an Equitable World of Work”, hosted by the U.S. Department of Labor Women’s Bureau, in Washington D.C.
This all-day Summit focused on opportunities to end gender-based violence and harassment in the world of work and uplift the principles of Convention 190 in the United States. Marking the one-year anniversary of the release of the U.S. National Plan to End Gender-Based Violence and the five-year anniversary of the International Labour Organization’s adoption of Convention 190 (ILO C190), the Summit convened workers, unions, employers, government representatives, worker advocates and other stakeholders who are working to prevent and address gender-based violence and harassment at the national, state and local levels. Speakers and participants discussed the importance of identifying, responding to, and preventing gender-based violence and harassment in the world of work.
