Food and nutrition have a central role in developing healthy lifestyles that can carry on throughout our lives. That’s why we provide grants to community-based organizations to support food pantries and provide meals to those affected by natural disasters. We also partner with sports teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars, Orlando Magic, Miami Marlins and loanDepot park, Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers to raise awareness about proper nutrition. In 2023, we supplied 52.9 million meals to more than 388,000 individuals in Florida, and awarded $3.3 million in Florida Blue Foundation grants to nine organizations across the state to strengthen food security. Social isolation and loneliness affect not only mental health and happiness, but physical health as well. Earlier this year, the U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, joined Triple-S and other community leaders in Puerto Rico to explore the impact of social isolation and loneliness on overall health. Triple-S shared how they’re partnering with local government and non-profit agencies to measure social isolation and loneliness on the island. Last year alone they awarded $250,000 to 10 non-governmental organizations whose programs are working to address this challenge.
