Meet Fady, a bright young man who faced challenges with communication. Fady and his mom reached out to the Assistive Technology Exchange Center (ATEC) at Goodwill of Orange County, where they received amazing support! 💙 The ATEC team provided an evaluation and helped Fady access the tools he needed to express himself. Now, thanks to a tablet with a special communication program, Fady can share his wants and needs more clearly than ever before! ️ Fady's mom is so grateful for ATEC's help. She says that Fady "always wanted to say more," and now, with this device, they can have meaningful conversations that improve his overall well-being. This is the power of technology and the incredible work our ATEC team does every day! 🙌✨

For more than 30 years, Goodwill of Orange County and the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) have partnered to create meaningful career opportunities for people with disabilities. Starting in 1990, this collaboration has grown to become a wonderful example of inclusion and support in the workplace. Goodwill OC participants Kenneth, Tim, Kevin, and Tom have dedicated 13, 19, 33, and 34 years to OCFA respectively. Their roles are essential, from managing inventory and deliveries to keeping the OCFA headquarters running smoothly. Their commitment and positive attitudes brighten the days of their coworkers and enhance the community spirit at OCFA. Guided by Goodwill OC job coach Eli, who found his own purpose through this program, these individuals are not just employees but integral members of the OCFA family. This partnership has not only changed their lives but also enriched the OCFA community, proving the power of inclusive employment. Through partnerships with employers like OCFA, more opportunities and more pathways to meaningful careers are created for everyone in Orange County. These partnerships are how Goodwill OC’s vision will become a reality – where Orange County is a caring and connected community where everyone has access to meaningful career opportunities. 🎓🎉 Congratulations to our resilient Project SEARCH graduates from CHOC Children's! 🎉🎓 This incredible group embarked on their journey back in 2020, facing shutdowns and delays due to the pandemic. Despite the challenges, their dedication never wavered. With the unwavering support from Goodwill of Orange County, the interns resumed their 11-month internship in June 2023 and have now reached this milestone! Our cohort started with ten interns. Two moved on to exciting opportunities at Edwards Lifesciences, another pursued a job outside of Goodwill, and six persevered to complete the program. We're proud to say they are all now either employed or actively seeking employment and have come together to celebrate their amazing achievement!🌟 A heartfelt thank you to the steering committee, Bonnie Gillman, Arturo Cazares, Anita Kwon, Carlos Fonseca, Chrissy Gascon, Linda O'Neal, Elsa Nunez, Shari Yamamoto, Trinh Van Erp, Diana Nevarez, Richard (Rick) Adams, Kathi Millett, and Adriana Zamora. This amazing group met monthly and remained steadfast throughout the program closure. Your support was crucial in making this possible. Thank you all for your incredible commitment and support! Here's to the bright futures ahead for our graduates! 🌟👏 #ProjectSEARCH #CHOC
