The guide to best practices for employee benefits across the life stages from TIAA Institute and GCOA has a fresh new look - read it here: https://lnkd.in/ePcsGCpy Benefits are key for an effective #employeevalueproposition. With only 66% of employees satisfied in their jobs and major changes taking place in the workplace due to changing culture and technology, employers should be asking – are our #benefits are doing enough to keep employees happy, healthy, and productive? To stay competitive in #recruiting and retaining employees of every age, employer-provided benefits can be designed to meet the needs of employees at every life stage – from early adulthood to parenthood and #caregiving to later life and #retirement. For the latest innovation in employee benefits, check out the updated knowledge brief from Global Coalition on Aging and TIAA Institute, “Best Practices for Employee Benefits in Different Life Stages.”

Writing in The Hill, GCOA CEO Michael Hodin and former president of AFAR Jim Kirkland address the Cancer Moonshot Initiative and highlight the critical need to invest in innovation for healthy aging. Current state and federal policy threatens to derail the fantastic strides made in new oncology treatment by limiting access and slowing progress in development - undercutting the goal established by the administration of cutting the cancer deathrate by 2047. Without putting patients first and focusing on equitable access, especially for older Americans, this goal is unattainable. Read the op-ed here: https://lnkd.in/ewRUyFWQ

Thank you to Biotechnology Innovation Organization and Merck for hosting the Global Coalition on Aging’s CEO Michael Hodin for this important conversation on adult vaccination. “The 20th century led to longevity, the 21st century must lead to healthy longevity. Investing in prevention strategies like adult immunization will not just protect health system capacity but also support economic growth and fiscal sustainability by keeping people healthier, productive, and active.”

Only a short time ago, an HIV diagnosis was considered a death sentence. Now, thanks to decades of biomedical innovation, effective patient advocacy and increased access, people living with HIV for the first time can live into old age. On May 29th, GCOA’s CEO, Michael Hodin helped lead a session on “HIV and the Importance of Health Innovation for Healthy Aging” at HealthHIV’s #SYNC2024 national conference in Washington D.C. The group discussed the role of innovation and access as key levers in enabling healthy aging for people living with HIV and emphasized the importance of continued innovation, wider access and movements – like the HIV community’s – to help drive better health outcomes and longevity for all. Thank you to HealthHIV, National Coalition for LGBTQ Health, and HealthHCV and Cheri Lattimer, Lauren Banks, Ronald Johnson, Scott Bertani, Sarah Brodt MPH CHES, Steve Wood, and Sue Peschin for a lively and important discussion. #Innovation #HealthEquity #HealthyAging

Global Coalition on Aging reposted this
Senior Director at HLG, Head of Health Programs at GCOA, Aging Expert, Healthcare Consultant, Strategic Communications, Public Affairs, Public Policy
This week marks both the start of the 77th World Health Assembly (WHA) and the 20th World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), two separate milestone events that bring the global community together in Geneva with the shared goal of improving the lives and well-being of people everywhere – one through health for all and the other through global digital cooperation. GCOA is proud to contribute towards the greater recognition, inclusion, and attention to the needs and contributions of older persons to our societies and economies at both WHA and WSIS. We applaud the new ideas and strategies that every day enable healthier aging for all. Be sure to check out hybrid sessions on Thursday focused on the value of adult immunization and the potential of ICTs to advance needed innovations in the fight against antimicrobial resistance. And if you will be in Geneva, you are invited to attend the announcement of the winner of 2024’s Healthy Ageing Innovation Prize, also on Thursday.
