About us
Established in 1996, The National Alliance for Caregiving is a non-profit coalition of national organizations focusing on issues of family caregiving. The Alliance was created to conduct research, do policy analysis, develop national programs, increase public awareness of family caregiving issues, work to strengthen state and local caregiving coalitions, and represent the US caregiving community internationally. Recognizing that family caregivers provide important societal and financial contributions toward maintaining the well-being of those they care for, the Alliance’s mission is to be the objective national resource on family caregiving with the goal of improving the quality of life for families and care recipients.

Did you catch the TODAY Show segment on caregiving youth? The story leveraged our signature data, 'Caregiving in the US' (in partnership with AARP) to highlight the staggering number of youth caregivers in America. A whopping 5.4 million kids are providing care for a parent with a chronic illness while juggling school🤯. By uplifting these stories, we can better understand and address the unique challenges faced by this growing community. Special thanks to the Today Show and Maria Shriver for spotlighting our data and American Association of Caregiving Youth (AACY), Lorenzo's House and Kesem for their incredible work! It’s time to reauthorize the Older Americans Act (OAA), a bedrock policy for supporting older Americans and their family caregivers. We have the opportunity to strengthen OAA’s support for family caregivers by: ✅ Boosting funding for caregiver support programs ✅ Boosting funding to drive action on the National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers ✅ Boosting funding for services for older adults and their caregivers Check out our latest policy brief on the role of OAA in supporting family caregivers. Our Caregiver Nation Network is making waves! Last week, we were featured in POLITICO Pro's Influence newsletter for our work championing caregiver support. We're thrilled to collaborate with state leaders and partners like Grantmakers In Aging (GIA), Health Foundation for Western and Central New York, RRF Foundation for Aging, The John A. As we celebrate our nation's freedom today, let's not forget the 53 million family caregivers who ensure the independence of their loved ones. For many, caregiving is a 24/7 responsibility, and their dedication is essential to a strong and healthy America. We're committed to ensuring that caregivers have the support they need by advocating for policies like paid family and medical leave and tax relief to continue providing essential care. #CaregiverNation #53millionStrong #IndependenceDay #Happy4thofJuly

Our Programs Director Yadira Montoya joined the 2024 Aspen Ideas Health Festival where she connected with a stellar group of Health Fellows to develop solutions for the world's most pressing health challenges. This year's festival highlighted family caregiving in several important ways: ➡ 'Caregiving, A generational Crisis' session featured Ai-jen Poo, Executive Director of Caring Across Generations and Act on RAISE Campaign Steering Committee member, who spoke about the need to give family caregivers the recognition, rights, and compensation they deserve to care and support for their youngest, oldest, and sickest members. ➡ Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure spoke about the new Medicare reimbursement codes for caregiver training services at her 'Costs, Coverage, Access and Innovation' session. NAC has been a vocal advocate for this critical #Medicare change! To watch the recording of both sessions visit: https://lnkd.in/eqruk79u Thank you, Aspen Ideas, for an unforgettable experience and for uplifting care! #AspenIdeas2024 #PublicHealth #Caregiving #CaregiverNation
