We’re not even saying it: VG - Verdens Gang AS and the numbers of tourists heading up to northern Norway are! 📈 We’ve seen an explosive demand in car rentals in that particular region: search traffic on areas like #Evenes (near the Lofoten Islands) has increased by 150%, and on #Bodø by 40%. 👉 This growing trend of car #rentals in Northern Norway have encouraged more carsharing where individuals can earn up to 70,000 NOK (around 6,000€) by sharing their vehicles. 👉 This surge in #carsharing not only helps locals generate additional income but also promotes sustainable and efficient transportation options. Carsharing is on a roll in Spain 🚀 According to the first barometer by AVCE - Asociación de Vehículos Compartidos en España, carsharing in 🇪🇸 has risen by 22.4% since the pandemic and has reached a record of 3,75 millions trips last year! 🚗 The use of shared vehicles has more than tripled that of private vehicles! 👉 Even if 37% of Spanish households who use #carsharing still own at least one vehicle, 25% don’t and 19% have already disposed of their owned vehicle or are planning to do so in the near future 🙀 This is great news for cities who are working towards a more sustainable urban & transportation planning ➡️ less vehicles parked in streets, means more space for greener areas and shared mobility lanes! 🙏Big thanks to PONS Mobility for the work and AVCE - Asociación de Vehículos Compartidos en España for the relay! Can car sharing be key to developing greener and more attractive cities? Spoiler alert! 100% yes. Guess who’s back? Back again…😉 That’s right folks, our Summer Guarantee Program is back for it’s second edition! 🤔 What’s this program about? For the second year in a row, we're guaranteeing owners across France and Spain (first time for Norway!), a certain amount of #revenue from June 1st to August 31st if they rent out their car. Does carsharing really have an impact? 🚘 We get this question quite often: how can we claim to be driven by #sustainability when we promote the use of cars? Well, we're promoting the use of shared cars instead of individual cars. 🤔 Why is that relevant you might ask? Because most of our cities are overcrowded and overburdened by cars, that remain parked 95% of the time. And unused cars take up precious urban space that could be used for pedestrian lanes, parks, or playgrounds. So, what’s the impact of #carsharing then? According to the latest ADEME study: 👉 1 shared car can replace up to 8 cars 👉 1 shared car can free up to 3 parking spots 👉 Carsharing users tend to to rely on more sustainable transportation options: biking (+22%), public transports (18%) & train (+29%) 🌎 For Earth Day, we wanted to imagine how our cities would look like if cars didn’t dominate them.
