What can’t women do when we come together? I’m looking forward to seeing fellow philanthropists for what promises to be an incredibly timely, impactful, and action oriented gathering in Santa Fe this December. Thank you Women Moving Millions Maverick Collective by PSI Rachel's Action Network and the Forward Global community for seizing the moment! #LFG #philanthropy #gender #fundraising #DAFs #socialimpact #grantmaking #foundations #impactinvesting #womenandgirls #women #feminist #democracy #governmentaffairs #civics #grassroots #advocacy
Women Moving Millions is proud to partner on IGNITE 2024: Democracy through a Feminist Gender Lens. This groundbreaking philanthropic gathering in Santa Fe, New Mexico, aims to channel resources directly to movement organizations at the forefront of protecting our democracy. In collaboration with visionary donor networks Impact-Driven Philanthropy Collaborative, Forward Global, Maverick Collective by PSI, National Center for Family Philanthropy (NCFP), Rachel's Network, and Women Donors Network, 100 feminist donors and movement leaders will come together with a shared vision of building a multiracial democracy. Donors will commit at least $100,000 to support vital movement funds, fostering a vibrant community of learning and joy alongside movement leaders. We look forward to seeing how this initiative unfolds and drives impactful change at the intersection of democracy and gender equity.

“To be a young person of color, to know that someone believes that much in you, that they would invest that much money, it’s honestly — I don’t know how to put it in words." Harlem Children's Zone, a New York City nonprofit that aims to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty, is seeking to address the racial wealth gap by giving thousands of students $10,000—through a program supported by private capital—to invest for wealth-building purposes. They plan to expand the program nationwide, including in Atlanta, where our upcoming Journey will explore strategies like these for supporting economic mobility and a more just and inclusive society. "New philanthropists and philanthropists expanding into new program areas particularly benefit from partnering with and tapping into the expertise of peers during the process of selecting grantees." An article in Stanford Social Innovation Review explores a new approach to building and leveraging ties in the philanthropic sector: "funders fundraising" — when funders explicitly solicit funding from peers to amplify their own work. Read the piece for an overview of the trend, including what funders should consider when thinking about whether or how to incorporate this strategy into their own work: https://lnkd.in/e9uYdAAW
