Women Moving Millions is proud to partner on IGNITE 2024: Democracy through a Feminist Gender Lens. This groundbreaking philanthropic gathering in Santa Fe, New Mexico, aims to channel resources directly to movement organizations at the forefront of protecting our democracy. In collaboration with visionary donor networks Impact-Driven Philanthropy Collaborative, Forward Global, Maverick Collective by PSI, National Center for Family Philanthropy (NCFP), Rachel's Network, and Women Donors Network, 100 feminist donors and movement leaders will come together with a shared vision of building a multiracial democracy. Donors will commit at least $100,000 to support vital movement funds, fostering a vibrant community of learning and joy alongside movement leaders. We look forward to seeing how this initiative unfolds and drives impactful change at the intersection of democracy and gender equity.
One of the most inspiring aspects of our work at Women Moving Millions is witnessing the incredible collaborations that emerge from our convenings. At this year's #WMMSummit2024, we were thrilled to see such a partnership bloom between Elmira Bayrasli and Daniela V. Fernandez. When did you last connect with someone brilliant, inspiring, and generous through networking? After speaking at the Women Moving Millions Annual Summit in New York earlier this year, I have had the true privilege of getting to know Elmira Bayrasli (who I encourage you to follow). Here’s why: 1. She’s the Director of Bard College's Globalization and International Affairs Program. Once upon a time, I was a political science major, so I’m always learning from her global policy-focused Substack newsletter, Interruptrr! 2. She shares her platform with other women experts in their field. In the latest edition, she handed me the digital pen to offer my knowledge and expertise in the ocean sustainability sector. 3. Just like me, she believes in the power of entrepreneurs from unlikely places to shift mindsets and change the world. Elmira covers this in her book, ‘From the Other Side of the World’—calling out why she believes that the next Steve Jobs is just as likely to come from Lagos or Mumbai as from Silicon Valley. Plus, we both feel venture capitalists need to do far more to bridge the funding gap for women!
