Earlier this year, Freepoint Eco-Systems International announced the development of its flagship advanced plastics recycling facility in Ghent, Belgium. Today, we announce our intended collaboration with Renewi to develop a pre-processing facility that will support the operations of our project.   The sorting and treatment infrastructure will facilitate the supply of 80,000 tonnes of waste plastic to be transformed into consistent, high-quality recycled material for use in new products.   This cooperative venture represents our shared commitment to diverting end-of-life plastic from incineration, improving local and global recycling rates, reducing carbon emissions, and preserving finite fossil resources.   Thanks to Mark Thys, Chief Operating Officer of Commercial Waste for Renewi, and Freepoint Eco-Systems’ Jacco de Haas, Chief Commercial Officer, Recycling Europe for leading our teams in this important cross-industrial effort to tackle the plastic waste crisis and advance Europe’s circular economy.   #recycling #sustainability #wastetoproduct #circulareconomy #greendeal #netzerotransition #advancedrecycling

In May, World Wildlife Fund launched its Blueprint for Credible Action on Plastic Pollution. The plan encourages companies to invest in circularity to reduce their plastic footprint and advance the WWF’s goal of No Plastic in Nature. By building solutions that close the loop on plastic waste, Freepoint Eco-Systems is keeping plastic out of our ecosystems. Today, Freepoint Eco-Systems International and BİOTREND Çevre ve Enerji Yatırımları A.Ş. announced their potential partnership to expand their impact on plastic recycling. Together, we aim to recycle 250,000 tons of waste plastic annually through projects in Turkey, the Balkans, and Central Asia. The partnership combines: 🌐 Freepoint Eco-Systems' focus on building, owning, and operating large-scale advanced recycling facilities, including its flagship facility in Ohio, USA. Upon completion in 2024, it is projected to be one of the world's largest advanced recycling facilities, with 90,000 tons of waste plastic recycled per year. 🍃 Biotrend's expertise and strong track record of operating integrated solutions for municipal solid waste in Turkey, including the ongoing development of a recycling facility in Turkey with a processing capacity of 60,000 tons per year. Oscar M. The US Plastics Pact revealed its Roadmap 2.0, a strategic plan to help companies reduce plastic packaging waste. The pact sets several targets aimed at improving packaging sustainability by 2030, including reducing virgin plastic use, improving design for recyclability, and increasing recycling rates. Freepoint Eco-Systems shares these goals. Consumer demand for recycled packaging is on the rise. A new global report from Smithers estimates the annual global market for food-grade post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic resins will expand to nearly 6.7 million metric tons by 2029, with Asia driving the highest growth rates.
