1 in 8 households in the United States are food insecure, while 40% of our food supply continues to goes to waste. Food Forward rescues surplus produce and distributes it to over 260 hunger relief partners in communities experiencing food insecurity. This year alone we have distributed more than 200 million servings of fresh fruits and vegetables that would have otherwise gone to waste. Waste less, feed more! We’re strengthening communities and creating a future where everyone has access to fresh, healthy produce. Visit foodforward.org to join the movement! How We Do It We collect fresh fruits and vegetables that would normally go to waste from backyard fruit trees, public orchards, farmers markets, and the downtown Los Angeles Wholesale Produce Market. 100% of the produce we recover is donated to hunger relief agencies across 13 California counties, 7 adjacent states, and tribal lands. MISSION & VALUES FOOD RECOVERY PROGRAMS Why We Do It According to the NRDC, up to 40% of food in the United States is wasted. At the same time, one 5 California households lack adequate access to food. Food Forward presents a simple solution to this disparity by connecting surplus fresh fruits and vegetables with people experiencing food insecurity in our communities.

Imagine, you’re taking a stroll and see oranges from someone's yard crossing over their fence and out into the public space. Do you take one? Whether it’s right or wrong to take fruit from a tree that’s not yours is not as straightforward as you may think, and laws are unclear as to when fruit goes from “fair game” to “theft”. Where do you draw the line?

We had a great time harvesting over 1500 lbs of grapefruit for donation with Food Forward Inc. last week! This local organization redirects produce that would otherwise go to waste and donates it to hunger relief agencies across 13 California counties, 7 adjacent states, and tribal lands. Thanks to L.A. Works for helping us find this volunteer opportunity! #volunteering #eventscreatechange #eventprofs #businessevents #sustainability #meetingsandevents #meetingprofs #miceindustry #sustainableevents #sustainablebusiness #b2b #collaboration

Food Forward is all about healthy and sustainable eating. We're big fans of Meatless Mondays and flexitarian diets for many reasons, including our plant based business model. Did you know? Skipping meat just once a week can: 🥕Have a positive impact on your overall health such as decreasing the risk of cardiovascular disease. 🥦 Reduce your carbon footprint by eight pounds each day you skip meat. 🥬 Save you money at the grocery store. Purchasing less meat saves an average of $40 per week. 🍅 Save over 130 gallons of water with each meatless meal. Would you consider skipping / reducing how much meat you eat?
