Thank you Philadelphia magazine for highlighting the Trolley Trail in this year’s #BestOfPhilly! We were proud to work with partners Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and the Belmont Plateau Trails Alliance to construct this multipurpose loop trail that connects users with history and nature in West Fairmount Park.
It’s official! Anna C. Verna Playground was named "Best Playground" on this year's Philadelphia magazine #BestOfPhilly list. This new playground in FDR Park opened nine months ago and was an immediate hit with kids & families, welcoming hundreds of visitors daily. Thank you and congratulations to all our project partners Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, WRT, Studio Ludo, KS Engineering, Meliora Design, dbHMS, and Daniel J. Keating Company. Shout out to the Conservancy staff that visit the playground regularly for maintenance and cleaning!
Park Hubs are back in Fairmount Park and FDR Park! The Hubs offer portable restrooms, large signage with maps, photos of nearby attractions, and QR codes linking to resources. Hubs are close to parking areas, making them great jumping off points for park exploration. Here's where to find them:

“By definition, a park is not nature. The magic of a park is that it enables a personal relationship with nature that is not available in nature.” Construction of New York City's Brooklyn Bridge Park broke ground 16 years ago, and today it is a “civic masterpiece” that transformed an industrial waterfront into a climate-adapted, financially self-sustaining mosaic of playgrounds, meadows, pathways, and playing fields. This public park welcomes 5 million visitors annually - including neighbors, New Yorkers across the city, and travelers from around the world. As we proudly continue the implementation of Philadelphia’s FDR Park Plan, the story of another unique city park is an inspiring opportunity to preview and reflect on where this work will take us:
Last week a few Conservancy staff members participated in the Greater & Greener conference in Seattle to tour the city's civic spaces, learn from leaders and practitioners, and connect with park people – including more than 25 representatives from various Philly organizations who were able to attend. As the co-hosts of the conference (along with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation) when it came to Philadelphia back in 2022, we were thrilled to pass the torch and watch Seattle shine over four beautiful days. Thank you to our hosts at City Parks Alliance and Seattle Parks and Recreation for making it such a memorable experience. We're looking forward to seeing you again in Austin in summer 2026!

What an incredible month! In June, 264 volunteers helped us collect 207 bags of trash and debris, tend to 201 trees, plant 60 shrubs, and gather over 142 bags of invasive species to be composted at Fairmount Park Recycling Organic Center 🌳 Special shout out to Arcadium Lithium!
