  • Our Clean & Safe team recently stepped up to help someone in need! A distressed individual requested assistance, and our amazing on-duty supervisor and safety ambassadors quickly jumped into action to provide support and contacted EMS services. With help from our graveyard supervisor, the individual was safely taken by Fire and Paramedics for treatment. Huge thanks to our team for their dedication and care!

As we witness the growth and transformation of Downtown San Diego through various innovative projects past, present and forthcoming, I am thrilled to be part of the conversation shaping our city's future at The Art of City Design, The Work of Frank Wolden & Friends series, endorsed by World Design Capital San Diego Tijuana 2024. Today (July 11) join me and fellow panelists Brian Schoenfisch, Jimmy Parker, and Diego Velasco for Dialogue 2 as we react to the main presentation by RDC. Senior Principal Sean Slater and delve into a conversation on the activation of the city. See the whole series below.

  • It all began with a distress call from the security guard at a downtown hotel. The guard had discovered a father and his two young daughters, aged 4 and 5, sleeping in the hotel's common areas. When the Downtown Partnership's Unhoused Care Team first met the family in the lobby, we made sure to be ready with snack packs and blankets. The father shared that they had been sleeping on the streets since early May 2024. While there were no family shelters available that day, the Unhoused Care Team and PATH arranged for the family to stay in a hotel room while they were enrolled in the housing queue and work began to get their essential documents in order. Through collaborative efforts with organizations such as PATH, DSDP, and San Diego Rescue Mission, the team was able to secure a spot for the family in the one-year program at San Diego Rescue Mission. We even made sure that their intake day for the new program included a stop at Balboa Park for the girls to enjoy as they start this new chapter.
